Poll question: Let's see how many DUers wear glasses
I do - without them, I can see, but I'm very near-sighted and things get blurry.

4. I wear them
If I didn't I would certainly have killed or severely damaged myself or someone else. I'm clutzy to start with but without my glasses the words "bull" and "china shop" some to mind. :D

Have worn them since I was 8, contacts are not good in my ultra-sensitive eyes.

7. contact lenses? or glasses?
I wear daily wear disposable contacts most of the time unless my eyes are feeling tired... i cheat and wear them for a few days each...

It always amazes me how hotels can offer toothpaste, soap and cotton balls but fail to recognize that a hefty portion of guests need saline solution and a case also. Certainly if one has wound up spending the night somewhere unexpected, contacts stick like glue to my eyes if i sleep in them... but if i take them out, i can't see worth a darn... I have to make sure where the glasses are when i take the contacts out or its a long blind groping session. :-)

and since I do alot of reading I wear them at least half of the time. I used to have perfect vision but after I turned 40 my eyes started to go. :-(

are clearer through the top of my progressive lenses, and they were not before.

--Sigh--and so it goes.

12. I'm due for a new pair but not sure where to get them
The last pair I got from from Costco. The prescription was fine, but the lenses themselves sucked. They required such fussy care it was a real inconvenience to wear them. They scratched easily -- even with scratch resistent coating -- and had a funky glaze on them all the time.

So, where to go?

Sears, Target, Pearle, or Penneys?
Just got a mailing from my insurance company about our vision benefit. I've never used any of these.... any experience out there?

26. Yep... I got the anti-reflective coating because I'm on the comptuer
so much. Wonder if that's what made them so susceptible to scratching? But shouldn't the scratch resistance take care of that?

24. A few hours every day.
I'm mildly nearsighted. I wear them in the car, and to see a movie if we go to a movie or to see a band play. I get headaches from squinting, otherwise, and I'm old enough I don't want any more 'squint wrinkles' than I already have.

And I don't have to wear reading glasses. Yet. I will, eventually, but not yet. As much as everybody in my family has griped about getting used to bifocals, I imagine that's going to be a hoot.

39. my daughter has a bad left
eye...she's had glasses since she was 2 (she's 32 now) and yes, they were/are expensive.

I keep cheapo, drug store glasses around the house so I can find my 'good' glasses. I use my good glasses for the computer.

I just had to take the eye test for renewing my license and I read line #10 just perfectly. I was worried about it, it's been so long since I've had my eyes examined, so that was a weight off of my mind...:-)

36. Freakin bifocals and a severe astigmatism prohibiting contacts
I wore them for a while in the '80s but I can't wear them now. Probably best that I don't hav something touching my eyeballs anyway. Too bad cuz without them I am one handsome devil.

37. I used to wear them, not anymore
Now all I wear is sunglasses. After the surgery it took me a year or more to stop taking off glasses that weren't there when I went to bed and to stop looking for them when I woke up.

In 10 to 20 years I may need reading glasses, but not right now.

40. Coke bottle glasses - even my contacts are thick!
Smear your glasses with a thick coating of vaseline - then you'll see what I see without my glasses. I've had a detached retina caused by extreme myopia - but surprisingly, I see really well with my thick lenses. Now, I'm waiting to see if intra-ocular lenses are approved. I may look into them. The corrective lenses are implanted just outside your natural lens. Sounds awful, but so does Lasik surgery, which I can't have because my eyesight is too bad!
