5. But... But...
Is Hobbes a *real* cat? Or just a toy cat as seen in a child's imagination???

2. My favorite cartoon cats are not available in the U.S.
There's a Japanese manga series from the early 1990s called (in English) "What's Michael?"

There are two types of stories in the series. One has the cats acting out stories as human-like characters, and the best of these is a movie parody called "Planet of the Cats."

There's another set of stories in which the cats are cats interacting with their human owners. For example, there's a cartoon about bathing cats that is absolutely hilarious to anyone who has kept cats.

Whether acting as humans or as cats, the cats are drawn by somebody who obviously has observed the beasts closely.

One year during my teaching career, I learned that my eight third-year students were all cat lovers, so I used "What's Michael" cartoons as teaching materials. It was one of the most popular units of the year.

3. Boondocks!!!
I *heart* Huey!!!
I love Calvin and Hobes!
Get Fuzzy is pretty funny, and who doesn't like Doonsebury?

I don't like the ones that tell stories, Prince Valient, Mark Trail, come on, the funnies should be funny.

7. Hobbes is a tiger.
He's a stuffed toy one, but in Calvin's imagination he's real. That's why whenever any other humans are in the frame, Hobbes is just the toy.

Get Fuzzy is my favorite. I love how the cat thinks he's so smart and really isn't, and the dog is dumb and sweet.

8. The "Old" Garfield
When a fat orange cat had a girlfriend and an "FU2" attitude.

Sadly, he's become a conservative cat with humor fit for Freepers.

12. Uhhhh.... Excuse me???
I haven't found any right wing-style humour in Garfield. And I've been reading it all my life.

19. I agree. The old Garfield was better
He stopped being so edgy many years ago. But I haven't read the comics in a while so I can't judge what he's like today.
