Help! Computer advice needed |
|
I got a new desk today, moved my computer, had to disconnect everything. When I turned it back on, the display is on 480X640. I can't change it; I right click the desktop, go to settings, where the little thingy is that lets you change the resolution, but it just won't move. Help.

install the driver for your video card. And if you don't have it on disk, let windows try to figure out what it is. Then go online and get the driver from www.driverguide.com if you have to.

2. I would suggest checking the driver for both your monitor and video card. |
|
Into Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Check "display adapter" and verify it has the correct driver, click on update driver if necessary. Check "monitor" for the same. (assuming a Windows OS)

3. You may have two "monitors" |
|
or two video cards (at least according to windoze) one of which is bogus.
Blow them both away, let windoze figure out what's wrong.

Take it from another penguin. Let windoze do one of the few things it occasionally does right (namely auto-detect).
Delete any video adapters from device manager and reboot (as said above)
Then go to linuxiso.org and download a _real_ OS ;-)
