Last vacation destination
Ours was to fly into Denver
5 days at a dude ranch West of Laramie,
then a day in Deadwood SD,
then back to the Denver airport.

Highly recommend the dude ranch part!

7. Vacation?
11 years ago I went to LA. Wait, but that was a working vacation, so that doesn't count.

I guess it was 15 years ago, Chicago & Indanapolis, visiting my then fiancee's family.

37. True LA story
My friend was hitchhiking in Ireland. One of her rides told her that he planned to visit the States, and that his goal was to go to three cities: "Los Angeles, New York, and El Lay."

18. *Vegas!*
I was there just last month. I'm not much of a gambler, but here's some great fun stuff I did:

1. Rode all the scary rides 912 feet atop my hotel (The Stratosphere).

2. Saw "Jubilee!", one of the last classic Vegas-showgirl shows, at Bally's.

3. Saw "O", the best Cirque du Soleil show ever, at Bellagio.

4. Rode the scariest rides at Adventuredome at Circus Circus hotel. I went on a Thursday, when I practically had the whole park to myself and never had to wait in line!

In between these exciting activities, I also got on a few video-poker machines. The most I won was $25.00.

Oh, and I also won two gold medals in a skating competition I was in at the Fiesta Rancho hotel (off the strip). I'd love to post a pic if someone could tell me how.

:toast:

19. St John, USVI
For our honeymoon 5 months ago. It was a fantastic 2 weeks. If you ever visit St John you must: Have drinks and play horseshoes with the locals at Skinny's... Order a Lime in da coconut at Shipwreck..Rent a Villa on the ocean.. Hike in the national forest... snorkel Little Lameshur bay...Make love, wake with the sun and repeat.

20. Congratulations BeTheChange!
on your recent marriage - and your incredible taste in honeymoon locales! How gorgeous!
Unfortunately, our most recent destination was going to be New Orleans - this fall. Been there once and fell in love with it. Since that didn't work out we went to a family reunion - in Iowa...
Last year we did go to Akron, Ohio to see Melanie, John Sebastian, and Arlo in concert - then to Cleveland to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Good little road trip.

22. Thanks!
We saw Arlo with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. One of the best things about being in Texas :)

Im now kicking myself in the ass for not driving down to New Orleans for the Satchmo festival. My husband and I had debated it, but end up being lazy. Neither of us has ever been to New Orleans. Be grateful that you got to go once.

St John is unreal, as Forest Gump says, it is like a whole nother world. You can actually visit relatively inexpensively if you went with another couple or if you stayed at the eco tents or camped. I think next time we will camp.

23. I also went to Denver!
But I had a different agenda - I went to the Great American Beer Festival.

3 days nonstop of straight beer drinking!

First night - I attempted the 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes challenge (score: 90).

Second night - I went and sampled beers from all 50 states (missing: North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Mississippi)

Third night - drunk all day!

Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 04:39 PM by EOO
It's brewed in Milton, Delaware. They were one of the show's sponsors.

I have one of the programs from the festival and it lists all the breweries that were represented.

38. How was Portland?
Did you get to Powell's? Eat any sushi?

I'm lucky that sometimes with my job I can squeeze in "tourist" time on one side of a trip or the other- wouldn't see as much of the country otherwise.

Was able to squeeze in a whole day in Portland once, and it was wonderful (even though it rained much of the day).

Laramie and Saratogah, the Snowy Range/Medicine Bows

Heard Yellowstone/Tetons is amazing, but we could get to Denver free on USAir points, and Laramie is only 2 hours from Denver, so Free trumped Amazing.
