Scary movies. Who else likes them? |
|
Let's get in the Halloween spirit. I'll take your recommendations for my Netflix queue. If you haven't seen "Stir of Echoes" with Kevin Bacon, check it out. Eerie movie. Well directed and acted. Also, an oldie but goodie, "Near Dark". A ragtag band of vampires traveling as a "family" in the Southwest. Not so much scary as unusual and darkly funny. What do you suggest for my queue?

1. I just saw "The Others" for the first time -- scared the sh*t out of me! |
|
Check it out if you like scary movies and haven't seen it. Nicole Kidman is awesome in this movie.

2. I like them if they are |
|
ghost stories and not the slasher, gory types. Nothing like a good haunted house tale but they are few and far between these days.

3. My favorite movie of all time is... |
|
....The Exorcist.
It's the only movie I have seen (30+ times now) where I cannot imagine changing any dialogue, casting, cinematography, etc.
It's the most classic form of drama; good vs. evil, told simply, directly, horrifyingly. All of the sequels were absolutely laughable compared to this gem of storytelling-meets-cinema. Many have stolen from it, never with nearly the same results.
The only other films that I have seen multiple times that I put in this pantheon of perfection are Deliverance, Citizen Kane and The Godfather.
