Laura Bush's fashion sense not just ridiculed on DU
It is not revealed if Mr or Mrs Bush will have stylists with them, although the First Lady may be well-advised to do so, having become the butt of uncharming remarks in America about her fashion sense. But they will both bring extensive wardrobes with them ready for a state banquet or a trip around Sedgefield.

2. I'm not a fashionista
but Laura Bush takes dowdy to new level. I wonder if she really wants to wear those boring ill-fitting clothes.

9. I agree, Melsky!
Remember the scene from "Midnight Express?" She'd look great "pressing" herself against the glass...

5. Anything that cost more than $39
She's not ugly... she's actually rather pretty. The trouble is *ugh* those outfits she wears. She should really try to wear something nice... She should have Donna Karen on speed-dial for the remainder of Bush's presidency.

I mean come on! Bush wears $10,000 suits that look like they were Men's Warehouse rejects, but he's not really that attractive to begin with, so it's all good. She has a chance to make herself look ok.

6. For starters, a size larger.
Her clothes are too tight. It looks bad on young women, and worse on one in her 50s.

12. I noticed that.
I think she is in denial about her real size. I had a friend who should have worn a fourteen, but kept on trying to squeeze herself into smaller sizes because she wouldn't admit that she had gained a lot of weight.

14. many of her dressier clothes...
...are from Scaasi, who is the designer for Mother Bush. That shows how much the old bag hates Laura, I think.

Some of her pant suits (in the more neutral colors) actually look respectable. But her ball gowns are atrocious. For every state dinner in the WH, there has been a big bow on her belly.

19. Too many political wives
think there's some kind of law that says they must wear suits. Jackie Kennedy looked good in the suits she wore because she was very think. Laura Bush isn't thin, and the cut of her suits are totally wrong for her. She should wear dresses that skim her body. If she must wear a suit she should go for a longer jacket worn open, NEVER buttoned closed. Separates would be a much better choice. She should get rid of the helmet hair and have highlights put in. The overall color is much too dark. Her lipstick is too dark. She's got the skin of a heavy smoker, and a makeup professional would know the right shades of foundation, eye shadow, and lipstick.
