Poll question: What kind of body of water do you prefer? |
|
Many people like rivers...but I just can't see why. They always seem ugly and boring to me. I'm an Ocean guy all the way.

I live within 5 miles of a lake, and about 10 of the Potomac River, and about 3 hours away from the ocean.

I grew up near the Atlantic and feel homesick if I'm not near an ocean.

7. You can take your nasty-ass salt water and CRAM IT!!! |
|
:-):-):-):-):-)
I like a BIG, humongous lake. A Great Lake to be precise. Lake Superior is my favourite. I also like Lake Ontario, Huron and Michigan. I don't like Lake Erie. Too polluted. Other large ones I like and have been to are Lake Winnipeg, Lake Athabasca, Lake Manitoba, Lake Of The Woods and Devil's Lake.

I've swam in oceans and seas many times myself. It's not like I don't know what it's like. But that salt water is just plain NASTY. Also, I grew up in Lake Country, so that basically shaped my opinion anyway.

9. gotta find the right river |

I dont care for the Mississippi, or Missouri, they are ugly. Western rivers however, are beautiful. Ocean is nice but too crowded for me. Lakes, too stagnant.

13. I'm from Minnesota, Land of 10000 lakes, |
|
but I have to say the ocean. Lakes are nice, I guess, but there's nothing like the ocean. If the view is just right, you simply can't beat it. Although, A lake near mountains is always really nice too
note- there's like, 15000 lakes in Minnesota.

You know, sloughs. Hey, sloughs are just rivers that flow both in directions and something is always happening, flood, ebb, or slack water; they are ever changing, and they smell wonderful, too! Fog, birds, fish, and memories of my childhood. Did I mention mud?

It's right out in the back yard. And since there was a levee built back in 1955, it hasn't done anything but flow on by. A good place to catch minnows for bait, a secretive place to plant your private herb, and a fresh water source for all the local animals living in the wild.
