I had to go get a tetanus shot today...due to THOUGHTLESS PEOPLE |
|
Some previous owners of our house used the ravine for a trash heap...was trying to get rid of some of the crap (it's the most amazing assortment of stuff, including TWO cars, several stoves, a water heater, tires, busted glass EVERYWHERE, the only good part about that is having found 3 intact pieces of cobalt, which I collect, plus bedsprings, general refuse, old siding, etc etc etc) and I cut right through a leather glove with SOMETHING sharp and rusty, not even sure what. Didn't know I had done it until I saw blood...and now damn BCBS will not PAY for it unless whatever happened to warrant the shot required a doctor...FUCKERS! The cut itself is really superficial, so that's not a problem, but it had been 20-plus years since I had a tetanus shot, and having to pay for it out-of-pocket really added insult to injury, literally!! WHY are people such pigs?? Why would anyone do something so ugly and destructive on one's OWN beautiful woodland property???? I don't get it...I really don't. I feel PRIVILEGED to live here, and obviously, someone who used to live here did not appreciate that one bit...
OK, I am done ranting now. But my arm aches...

1. could've gotten a rabies shot? |
|
if there was some kind of an animal in said heap. it's all a matter of perspective i suppose, but i'd rather have a tetnus shot any day over a rabies shot. hope you feel better.

3. *lol* good point! No, no little critters as far as I know, just rusty heap |
|
cars and trash... I really despise people who refuse to care for the planet...and particularly by shitting up their own damn back yard!
I'm fine, just had to vent it out!

6. oh i understand exactly what you mean. |

in my yard we commonly hold barbecues. it's right on top of an old abandoned mine, but when they were trying to "fix" this problem, they took old rubbish from a burned down hotel and dumped it, now some of the stuff is starting to surface and nails and bricks and stuff are coming through the grass. sigh...i hope none of my younger cousins hurt themselves on it.

2. I can commiserate, Granny. |

The people who used to own our property did the same thing. There's just no way to get it all out of here because it's way, way back and no good way to get equipment in. We've let the area go completely back to the wild.
BCBS really does suck. When we had them, I had to fight tooth and nail for everything. I was lucky that I had a background in prop/casualty and at least knew how to read and interpret an insurance policy better than the drones answering their phones. Keep after them and go up the ladder if need be. Did you go to the emergency room or urgent care?

4. I went to NowCare, which is kind of like urgent care, I suppose...the ER |
|
would have cost a $75 copay, and the shot was $38 at Now Care, so I think I came out ahead...

5. Sounds that way to me, too. n/t |

Luckily we didn't have any cars abandoned and I'm too afraid to go digging around with my hands in the stuff. There are snakes and scorpions around! Luckily it is far back on the place and the earth has taken over the area. I don't think there was anything toxic in the mess but by that time, it was hard to tell.
