Am very frightened for my kitty
I plan to call the vet as soon as they open, but that isn't for an hour. Can any DU cat people at least tell me their opinion, so I don't lose my mind in the next hour?

Briefly: VERY healthy 8-year-old cat, was 100% fine yesterday -- eating, playing, etc. Around 700 or so started acting weird, and spit up clear fluid. Several times during the night she also did this, and this morning she's lethargic, hasn't eaten, drank, etc. She sued her litter box this morning, and her stools were loose, with bloody streak, and "segments" -- worms???? She's an indoor cat, was at the vet for her check-up three months ago.

She's my furbaby. I love her. Any ideas?

1. Could she have gotten into the garbage? Or eaten something non
edible? It sounds as if something she ingested isn't agreeing with her system. Are there any other cats in the house that she may have picked something up from? Has she been around other cats (i.e. vets)?

I hope she feels better...and that it's just something little.

2. The other cats are indoor cats
She may have gotten into the garbage -- you know how kitties are. I'm just scared -- I have a coworker who had this happen to a cat, and she died the next day. This kitty is literally like my child. I'm frantic with worry right now....

3. Take the poop sample with you when you go to a vet.

4. Sounds like it might be worms, but still get her to a vet.

5. Do you have an emergency vet?
They are open all the time. Our vet's answering machine message gives he phone number, but I'm sure there are other ways to find it. One time my cat swallowed a piece of dental floss and the emergency vet told me, over the phone, what to watch out for. They would have looked at him if it had been necessary. I was frantic, but I felt a lot better after calling them.

It sounds like your baby might have gotten into something. I hope she's OK. Please post again when you find out what's wrong.

8. Emergency vet nearby? Take her in.
Of course, I didn't look at the time stamp on your post.

Sounds like she ate something nasty and it's in her colon. She's not lost.

Please keep us updated.

10. She needs to go to the vet now...
My little girl had that same problem earlier this year, and she ended up needing an IV of fluids (and she perked right up too!). The only thing that concerns me about your girl is the blood in the stool and the "segments". It could be worms - she may need some wormer from the vet. But, it sounds like whatever it is, it is just a viral or bacterial thing.

Hopefully she is OK - please update us as soon as you can! Hope everything is ok...
