Okay, Call me crazy but... |
|
Today my office is doing a home cooked lunch for the bosses of the office. Boss's Day must be coming up or something. Everyone volunteers to bring an item of food so that we have a complete meal. Now I already hate this b/c it is really sexist. If you are a man, you are considered a boss. All of the women bring the food for the men. I am self-employed (my own boss) but I still contribute to the food even though I should celebrate my own bossness being that no one else is my boss. But since I am a woman, it is expected. Now as if cooking for these men isn't enough, a woman is going around the office asking for money for the bosses. Maybe to purchase a gift. These men already make WAY more than any woman of this office. They are all very very well off. The owner is a MULTI-millionaire. I have to struggle to make ends meet sometimes as it is. Why should I give money? I thought the lunch was the appreciation part. WTF? Am I overreacting? I'm not giving any money.

and no, you're not over-reacting.
Cooking should be enough (more than enough if you think about it... I mean, seriously, isn't EVERY DAY "boss's day"?

5. Exactly! I bought my food. |
|
Not to be ugly, but I was cooking for my husband yesterday. He cooked for me Friday and Saturday. The last thing on my mind was Boss's Day!!! I hate how sexist this office is. And it isn't just in your face. It is more hidden which pisses me off more!

7. I thought about it. Considering |
|
she abuses the office as is. She uses the company car for her personal use. She has a Lexus and a Mini-Cooper. Yet she uses the company's Ford Explorer everyday to drive to and from work! WTF???

6. I felt I needed to say more on this topic... |
|
Boss's Day is a big flaming pile of shit "holiday". Isn't every day "boss's day"? And bosses have a day...and their administrative assistants have a day...when the hell do I get a freakin' day?
NEVER...that's when.
Fuck 'em all.

8. Thank you!! I feel the same way. |
|
Being self-employed, I already don't get any benefits, taxes aren't already taken out of my check, no sick leave, and I have to pay a self-employment tax penalty. When do I get a freaking holiday? The way they do it up here is the WOMEN celebrate secretary's day. I always make sure to tell everyone I am NO ONE's secretary.

16. Well they are good people. They |
|
are sexist even though they wouldn't know it. But yes everyone is a huge SUCK-UP!! I don't mind participating in the food part even though I don't agree with how it is done, but when she starts asking me to give money I don't have to give to a freakin' millionaire, that is where I draw the line. They do give me a Christmas bonus up here even though I am self-employed, so I don't complain, but it still pisses me off. I hate how sexist this place can be.

13. This is a pretty small gossipy office. And it is a Oil and Gas |
|
Company. So, most of the men are very wealthy. They own percentages in every oil field we have. AAHHH!! I'm not giving any money whatsoever.

15. Right on, Shell! 'Celebrate your bossness'!! |
|
Great phrase.
And it IS a crock 'o' shit that they expect money AND the women to prepare food. Sounds like you work in the 1960s. :eyes:
Kudos for not contributing.

I though 'boss' was another name for a slave driver or a prison guard.
