Poll question: Help me pick which CD to get.
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 01:03 PM by redqueen
I want to get another CD, but I can't decide which one to get.

Which one of these bands should I support today?

(edited to replace Brian Jones Massacre with Andrew Bird, since BJM posts all their stuff for download on their site!)

16. Me too
He played locally last night. It was great!
Amusingly enough, when I was looking to pick up the CD, the store employee referred to him as "that Amish guy". I informed him that he is not Amish, but an Hassidic jew. The guy says, "He wears a hat and has a beard, isn't that Amish?"

5. How about "And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead"
They aren't at ALL what their name sounds like. Actually quite a mellow, talented group of musicians.

Listen for yourself. Go to "media" and listen to some streams. They are suprisingly good. IMHO.

Sorry, Can't help you out with the CD's you listed. I don't know them.

and the fact that I don't remember them makes me think they may not be my thing, but I shall give them another listen anyway! Thanks!

6. I have never heard of those five
and I am pretty sure I do not wish to. The older I get, the more music is made that I do not want to listen to. That's me though, pre-occupied with
1985.

anything to suggest?

What kind of stuff do you like? I highly recommend Zero 7. I'm currently listening to Somersault on my mental jukebox. :)

19. I am hearing Sweet now
in alot of TV ads, but the first song "Piece of the Action" sounded like ELO to me. I have not tired of my favorites yet, but I guess that until two years ago "Easy livin'" was not a song I had heard alot. Now it is in my top ten.

I used to play that song over and over on my little portable turntable out on the back porch. :D

Dangit... what album was Easy Livin on?

I was thinking of getting Our Endless Numbered Days.

But I really haven't settled on any one CD by any of these artists...

24. Iron & Wine
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 04:36 PM by mvd
It's the only one I know enough to recommend. Just avoid that new Ashlee Simpson CD - this time, the critics are right to bash. My grade was even lower than Entertainment Weekly's.

I like CDs just as much as the Iron & Wine, but since you listed it, I had no problem voting for it.

And now it's a tie between Iron & Wine and Nick Drake.

I also remembered I might like to have that new Gorillaz CD as well.

*sigh*

Decisions, decisions...

29. Have you heard God Speed! You Black Emperor or Sonic Youth?

Great political music.

If you hate them, I'd go with Pink Moon.

Or, if you don't have it:

32. The new Super Furry is really good
I have also been enjoying the new Animal Collective album Feels. Not sure if it's available in retail markets or not yet, however...

And the new Sufjan Stevens is still holding its place as my Best Album of the Year if you haven't heard it yet.
