Laptop question
I got a laptop for the first time the other day.

I bought a winbook A8317. It's really cool. It has this 17" monitor and all the other bells and whistles.

I'm in the process of calibrating the battery. I have had this thing turned on for an hour (on battery) and have lost about 40% of the charge.

Is this unusual? How long should I expect the battery to last?

2. Do you know if it's a Centrino?

That's a Pentium M processor and integrated wireless. They are built to last about 2 x's longer than the 'typical' laptop batteries. If not, you're about right. There are places you can go (PM me if you want details) and they will test that battery and be sure it's getting a full charge and draining properly. Those batteries are about $140 to replace, so take take of it.

3. My new laptop only lasts about an hour and 45 minutes on battery.
It's a Sony Vaio...I can buy a bigger battery, but mostly I leave it plugged in. :hi:

6. My laptop battery lasts six hours.
I don't know what I'd do, if I had to charge it every two hours. I don't think I have anything special, so I wonder if your battery is functioning correctly.
