Colin Powell reveals he teaches sexual abstinence to girls

Colin Powell, the US Secretary of State, has made an admission reminiscent of Gladstone by revealing that he and his wife Alma help to educate girls in Washington about the virtues of sexual abstinence.

The Victorian-era British prime minister would scour the streets searching for prostitutes to rescue and rehabilitate. Meanwhile, Mr Powellhas described in an interview how he and his wife warn girls about the dangers of Aids. "Abstinence is a good thing to teach young people before they're ready for the responsibilities of sexual activity," Mr Powell said. "Abstinence works. We know it works ... and it is a perfectly sensible strategy to take to young people."

2. Well it is the best way to keep from getting ...
all types of STD's and having kids at a young age. But they need to do more that that when the kids are older.

3. What about boys?
Or is it still okay for them to do whatever they want??? Just wondering why all the responsibility falls on girls when it comes to sex. It does take two to tango you know. Of course the argument is that boys can't help themselves I guess.

5. LOL yes, that is what caught my eye, in addition to the obvious

and somewhat distasteful mental jpeg of ol' Unc'Colin with a sweet young thing on his knee, listening raptly to his admonitions about the dangers of her awakening sexuality, while ol'Auntie Alma sits by, knitting, casting a sly glance over at the firelight playing on the earnest faces there in the "His" rocker...

Seriously, the sex urge is one of the strongest forces in humandom, and anyone who seriously wants to help young people, male and female, avoid the perils of irresponsible sexual behavior would do well to concentrate their efforts on educating the youngsters on the dull and dry scientific facts, since once the chaperones are asleep and the moon is full, it is science and not theology or ideology that will determine who gets pregnant and who gets an STD.
