Who on DU is a poker player? |
|
Seriously I need some good advice quick or they're gonna kill me!
Just kidding...I like poker I don't play for a lot of money when I play but I enjoy it. My favourite game is good old stud. But I like texas holdom and blind 31 too.
What are your games?

Texas Hold 'Em Omaha Hi-Lo 7 Stud (I hate that game though) 5 Card Draw
Blind 31? Never heard of it.
Rare poker games include Pineapple (A variant of Texas Hold'em) Crazy Pineapple (another variant - can't remember how it is played)

only you get three cards to make it to 31, and you can't see your hand...it's all about balls!

3. I'm in a regular Texas Hold 'em game |
|
bi-weekly, Friday nights. Usually start around 8 or 9pm and don't finish up until roughly 4am.
Texas Hold 'em is the only game we play. Nothing too high-stakes, $.25/$.50 blinds, which makes the max bet $2 in the first two rounds before and after the flop, $4 max on the turn and the river.
My friend and I are consistently the top two players. We're opposites, he's scares people with his unpredictability, I play really tight which allows me to steal pots now and again. We have ventured to some card clubs here in LA (poker is legal in California) and sat in some $3/$6 games.
We're going to Vegas in February to play in a tourney, you can find small buy-in tournaments on any weeknight at many casinos. The Mirage has a $120 buy-in no-limit Hold 'em tourney every Thursday, that's the tourney we're looking at. I'm currently reading a book on tournament play, it is totally different than limit poker.
Played stud all through high school and college and still know those games pretty well(hi-low, Chicago, baseball, etc), but I prefer hold 'em.

9. I'd kick your ass and take your money if you played me... |
|
so you'd better stay clear. LOL! My guy friends can never figure out how it is that the only female who plays with them clears out their pocket change on every poker night. When I play, I make enough to cover my beer, so that's all good by me.
I love poker...I am usually the one that initiates the get-togethers. It's pure fun!

I always wanted someone to teach me poker though. I lost a game of strip poker when I was 17 and never played again. It was fun losing though!! My bartender swears by TexasHoldEm. He told me that this web site has good strategy tips: http://www.texasholdem-poker.com/Good luck and have fun!! Yo Eleven! s_m
