Neurosis...the band not the mental state.....
Anybody here into these guys. They've been around for about 15 years and started out as a straightforward metal/hardcore band but since '92 have been playing this unique, super heavy, intelligent, prog metal that is just amazing. Incredibly rythmic and groove oriented, with subtle, well placed samples that completely add to the apocalyptic mood of the music. This is the band that actually is what Tool fans claim Tool is.

They have a new record out with vocals from Jarboe of the Swans and it is some atmospheric, eerie stuff.

2. No....American.....from San Francisco...
Are we talking about the same band? Albums include Times of Grace, Through Silver In Blood, Souls at Zero and a few others?

3. I saw them live once...
Yuo're right, they sound amazing on cd, but when you see them live there is just a wall of noise. I saw them at ozzfest in 99 or something, I couldn't bear it. But I listened to the CD and thought it was really good, creative.

Maybe they've improved their show, or maybe the show is better if I know the music.

4. I wouldn't imagine Ozzfest is the best place to see them...
Especially if they went on during the day.

But in a medium sized club, with all of their visuals and lighting, they can be quite an experience. In outdoor venues during the day would, I imagine be a horrible environment in which to see them.
