My new family members

Boris & Natasha (brother & sister) - Boris on Left, Tasha has the white face.

They are 1.5 year old Border Collies that I got from a BC Rescue place. I wanted a BC as that's what my Rocky was and he was such an amazing dog. These guys are smart, funny, affectionate and well behaved. I only got them Saturday and I'm in love with them already :-)

2. They seem very happy here
they are still a little shy about going out in the yard by themselves but they are adapting well. Lucky for me they do like to sleep as they have so much energy that it's tough keeping up with them :-)

4. Congrats!
:toast: :bounce: :bounce:
What a handsome, lovable pair! I'm just filled with an almost irresistable urge to rub those bellies from that snoozing pic :-) Great choice- I'm sure that they will bring you every bit as much happiness as you will bring them!

(Hehe, I was pretty sure that the one with the blaze was Tasha even before you pointed that out; Boris looks much more "butch"lol!)

6. Hey Jen!
It's funny how much they look their gender. Tasha does have very feminine features and Boris just looks tough. He has a squatty nose and hers is slender like a Greyhoud's. They love having their bellies rubbed btw. ;-)

:hi:

5. Congratulations!
They are beautiful dogs and so lucky to have found a home with you. I really like the pictures. I'm partial to the herding breeds. I have 3 Australian Shepherds and a foster Aussie as well.

7. Actually these are 1/4 Aussie too
I was told their mother was 1/2 Aussie. Herding breeds are awesome!

8. I had a BC/Sheltie
mix and he lived to be 18 years old and was the smartest boy. I can't really see a big difference in Aussies and Border Collies. Many Aussies don't have tails but that's because many of them are docked. All mine have tails. I think your two are a good age. My Aussie brothers were abandoned at 4 months old and I never want to do puppy raising again!

And Rocky would be happy that you provide such a great home for his bretheren. They look as though they have taken over :D

Shall we mail you a lifetime supply of frisbees?
:hi:

13. Lol!
yeah, they are perfect frisbee dogs. Rocky never caught on to the idea that you're supposed to bring the frisbee back once you caught it (he would just run off with it and chew it up) so I'm hoping these guys will do better ;-)

Beautiful puppies! (I call them puppies no matter what age, lol).

I love that you are keeping the Bullwinkle motif going. We once had a siamese cat we got in Spain and we named her Natasha, so I have a soft spot for that name. :-)

I can't wait to meet them, and of course, their Mom. :D

19. Well it wasn't by choice
they were already named and so I knew they were meant for me :-) . It was an omen.

They are still very much puppies. Hell, I called Rocky "pup" until the day he died. ;-)

:hi: Latte Lad!

18. Awww, I love Borders
I wouldn't have 'em myself unless I had something for them to do - they get bored when they're not busy. They are very high-energy dogs, but having each other will help a lot. You have a pack! :D :D

Flyball - find out if there's a flyball place near you. Borders LOOOOOVE flyball, they make the turns much faster than other breeds.

Edited on Mon Nov-17-03 04:21 PM by SiouxJ
on Friday night I stayed up to watch Letterman and he had two BC's herding sheep on as guests. It was like everywhere I turned someone (Rocky?) was telling me to get these guys. I discovered them on Thursday and had them home by Saturday.

27. So if that warehouse cat ends up
settling in, you'll have to name it (if it's a he, anyway) Bullwinkle, naturally! ;-)

Ain't kismet grand?
