Let us now praise John C. McGinley on "Scrubs"
Does anyone have another nomination for an actor doing a more smashing comedic turn week after week on television? When he's really amped and the words just tumble out of his mouth in one long stream of vitriol, his work is a thing of beauty.

Unlike all the 2-Dimensional assholes he's played in movies, Dr. Cox is a remarkably complex character, with a million different shadings to him. I had no idea how talented McGinley was until he really started to run with this character last year. And scenes where he berates J.D. (Zach Braff) by using girl's names ("My GOD, Fiona!!") are just icing on the cake.

Yo, Emmy voters! Get over the "Raymond" cast!

2. I agree with you, dback.........
Scrubs is so much better then Raymond. I tried watching that show a couple of times and I do not find it at all funny. Especially the wife and the mother, yuck!

Scrubs always makes me laugh out loud.

3. Is he related to Ted McGinley?
And yes, I agree the character is so much better than his one dimensional bad guy characters

4. Yep he's a good man

I've liked him since his performance in Platoon. (Didn't he have the line "I've got a bad feeling about this one")

6. He's also turned out to be the Hospital Progressive.
Ordering an operation for an uninsured woman last season and telling them to dump the bill.

Actually he makes lots of very compelling comments about what healthcare is all about.

To top it off he's funnier than hell especially with the snide remarks.

8. Scrubs
Scrubs has been the best sit-com on television the last two seasons. And Dr. Cox is the funniest character on the show. He certainly deserves an Emmy.

9. Love Dr Cox
I sometimes forget he's a character. He's so much like so many REAL attendings I've crossed paths with over the years.

SCRUBS = The New MASH?

10. One of his best episodes was a couple of weeks back.
Tom Cavanagh from "Ed" plays a recurring role as J.D.'s underachieving brother. At the end of the episode, the brother tells Dr. Cox that he knows J.D. will never look up to him, but that he looks up to Dr. Cox, and he wanted Cox to treat him accordingly. And at the end of the episode, J.D. and Cox are shown walking with a patient - and just having a normal conversation, with no putdowns or sarcasm. No gushy sentiment, no cheezball sitcom moments - just normal. Totally unexpected, and one of the reasons this series is so great.

If you like "Scrubs", by the way, check out the soundtrack CD.
