Stupid fscking van (update)
Edited on Mon Nov-17-03 03:05 PM by TrogL
I took it into the shop again 'cause it's working fine except for erratic heat.

They tell me it's got a blown head gasket and it'll be $1536 to fix it.

Any idea how long I can run without it?

(on edit)

Turns out it's a known bug.

1. I wouldn't chance it

It seems like an awful lot of money to fix it now, but wait until you see the bill if you blow up the motor trying to run around with it like that.

On edit: Maybe try calling a different place and see if they can do it cheaper for you.

3. I limped home somehow
and I'm parking it until I hear from Ford.

The shop tested it with a sniffer and immediately sensed antifreeze fumes in the exhaust.

4. is it a V6? is it the front or rear cylinder?
depending on the engine design, this might be able to be done alot cheaper than that..

is it just completely undriveable? i drove on a blown head gasket for months. if it's not getting in your oil, you won't really blow it up if you keep adding coolant.
