Tired of this cough!
Three weeks of albuterol, inhaled steriods and I still can't shake this stupid cough. Went to the hospital today for an x-ray to rule out an embolism and luckily the x-ray is clear.... My lungs are just irritated....

Now I am on prednisone...this just sucks big time...did I mention last time I was on prednisone one of my kids gave me the virus of the week from school and I ended up with temporary liver damage... god I was itchy for two weeks from the jaundice..

So if you have any homemade remedies ...I am getting desperate.... I can't drink while on the steriod...so please no whiskey or wine recipes...it will be too tempting to try...

Oh and did I mention this has really screwed up my back..my c6 and c7 discs are giving me such grief from the coughing...

I have now completed my whine fest...and i realize that other have it far worse....I am just being a baby...

1. I have been coughing (non-productive) for almost 10 years...
The reasons according to the medical professionals-

Ah, "you have cough-variant asthma"....gives me an inhaler...didn't work

Ah, "you are allergic to your cats".....gives me an inhaler...didn't work.

Ah, you have inflamed sinuses...gives me an inhaler...didn't work.

If you find out what is wrong, please, please tell me, because I am sick of this sh*t.

7. I will let you know...
Four days of Advair made no difference...although my husband said I look pale...
Albuterol gives a bit of aid...but not much...

My stomach hurts along with my discs ...maybe it will tone my abs from the inside (trying to think good thoughts)

2. I can relate
I have one that is going on a week now. It started as just a sore throat, but now has gone into a full blown cold, with coughing and all the crap that goes with it.

Have you tried lemon and honey? About a tablespoon of honey with a squeeze of lemon helps me some. I usually just have to end up scouring the drug aisle in the drugstore.

It really sucks to get on those coughing jags. I know I'm sick of mine too.

Hope you feel better soon.

3. Be careful on steroids...
They can affect your mood. I had to take two sets earlier this year, and they affected me to the extent that my son griped about my attitude.

4. Do you have a cool-mist humidifier?
We start running ours the minute we start running the heat.

11. Be careful about pleursy. A lot of coughing can cause a lot of
pain as muscles are torn. Thes bugs have been really bringing everybody down. They seem to take forever to get over. Me, I take a walk on a crisp night, or stand in a steaming hot shower and get some relief. Try sleeping with your head elevated to soothe night time coughs...and I almost forgot...here is a hug.

You poor baby,

Laura

12. Oh I have had pleursy...actually a pleural lung infection ...and worse
i was pregnant....I woke up one night and couldn't take a deep breath without pain. I ended up in the hospital and it took a cardiologist to diagnose it.... I was on painkillers to breathe...luckily the bun in the oven was already past the danger point for exposure to a bit of codeine...

Thanks for the hug...

Lucky I have a little gal all dressed in princess wear doing songs to cheer up mommy ...
