11. My middle son occasionally got cold sores, and it does work |
|
BUT..you have to apply some real pressure and keep the ice on it for a while..and if you wait too long, the blister is already forming..

6. 1000 milligrams of ibuprofin 3 times per day @ the FIRST sign of tingling, |
|
not to exceed 3000 mg per day, should defray a full blown attack.

17. My husband gets fever blisters in his eyes. |
|
My best friend has always had them really bad and her doc put her on Valtrex for 3 years (she doesn't have genital warts). She gets them in her nose, on her hands, almost everywhere. She says it is torture. She gets them a lot less than she used to, but she still gets them.

22. Yes, he does. He has medication for it. |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 03:00 PM by Shell Beau
He has horrible eyes. He is +7.50 if you know anything about that. That is almost legally blind. When he was little, one of the muscles that control eye movement just popped and his eye went cross. His mom happened to catch it and luckily they were able to minimize the damage b/c he almost went blind in that eye. Luckily today he has trained his eye to be "normal" even though he can cross it at any given time.

the cream and the pill. They are prescription.
Abreva can help, too.
Ice packs and ibuprofin and stay home from work when it is really kicking up because let's face it, you look gross. But more important, your immune system is wonked out.
Listen to granny.

16. See if you can get a doc to give you a sample |
|
and you might even be able to get the health dept. to give you some.
But, that Abreva works pretty well, too. My daughter used to get them all the time on her lip...then they moved to her nose and recently, after having a baby, she got a huge one right in the middle of her cheek.
I have them on my lip sometimes but once got one in my eye. It was right after a huge fight with my mother and I am convinced they are brought on by stress.

23. I have had cold sores for as long as I can remember |
|
and have tried every form of cure. The best thing I have found is to take L-Lysine daily - if you feel the tingle of one coming, double up on the L-Lysine. You can get it where ever you buy vitamins.
Good luck! :hi:

25. Try cutting down on vitamin C too. |
|
I have found that it triggers mine (sun light is full of Vitamin C - too much sun, fever blisters - too much OJ or mimosas -- fever blisters).
Also, the iburopen is a good recommendation too - fevers help them grow and stress brings them on too.
My First Communion pictures and Confirmation pictures were from a distance, I was ashamed of the fever blisters the size of a grape on my lips. :-(

28. I know a foolproof cure. |
|
Stumbled onto it accidentally.
I'm not a cold sore person, but I got several in a row after a bout with the flu last year.
The nerve endings flare up, which makes curing cold sores really difficult.
Well, I happened to get a migraine and a cold sore at the same time.
The migraine medicine relaxes the nerve endings.
It cured the cold sore in a matter of hours.
Weird, huh?
No more cold sores for me.

31. make sure you put vinegar on it at the first tingle. |
|
It will eliminate the big oozer and keep it to a small, dry lump. My kid gets them. I hate to use the vinegar (think salt in the wound) but hey, as an adult, you can buck up and tolerate a little pain.
