The Bible Code, finding words corresponding to events...bullshit |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 01:04 AM by Demonaut
the english language has evolved over time and common words are derived from other languages, and what makes english the language that the code needs to be decoded in, english in its present form didn't remotely exist at the time the bible was written, and the bible has was written initially in greek and hebrew and probably aramaic..although I may be wrong

2. Well not to defend the bible code thing |
|
But it is not claimed to work on English bibles. Its done on Hebrew and Aramaic translations.
Thing about it is it works on books like Moby Dick as well. Take any large enough tome and apply this sort of math to it and you will find patterns. If its large enough you will find patters linking to things that have happened in the past.
The real trick is finding a pattern to something that has not yet happened and then seeing if it happens when it says it will. If it doesn't say when it will happen well then its not very useful is it?

3. It's natural us to look for patterns, it's how we survived for millennia |

from predators as hominids back in the day. Looking for patterns is how our advanced brain learned to see Mr. Lion in the grass and get the fuck up a tree. Now, we don't know what to do with the extraordinarily developed portion of our brain. Some people do word-search puzzles, some become crime detectives, others look for meaningless associations in texts.
Personally, I find it a fascinating tribute to our past that we are so drawn to patterns and finding things out with our big brains.

If you start at Isaiah 10:4 and take every third letter it matches your post, except for this part "the bible has was written initially" which has the word 'has' which does not belong there. The detail in these predictions is just astounding.
Of course, you know that God is both omniscient and omnipotent so He obviously knew exactly how His Word would be translated and also how the English language would evolve. Plus, even if He did not know it would work that way in advance, He has the ability to guide events to conform to His wishes. :P
PS Actually I agree with you since I did not sell or read that book.

6. here's part of what i think, when people intone as though they are... |
|
"keep(ing) it a mystery" they have less of a clue when the entirety of the visual & metaphysical world is conveyed from within allegory already...
You come out at night That's when the energy comes And the dark side's light And the vampires roam You strut your rasta wear And your suicide poem And a cross from a faith that died Before Jesus came You're building a mystery
You live in a church Where you sleep with voodoo dolls And you won't give up the search For the ghosts in the halls You wear sandals in the snow And a smile that won't wash away Can you look out the window Without your shadow getting in the way?
You're so beautiful With an edge and charm but so careful When I'm in your arms
Cause you're working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you're working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully
You woke up screaming aloud A prayer from your secret god You feed off our fears And hold back your tears, oh Give us a tantrum And a know it all grin Just when we need one When the evening's thin
You're a beautiful A beautiful fucked up man You're setting up your Razor wire shrine
Cause you're working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you're working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully
Ooh you're working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you're working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully
Yeah you're working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you're working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully
You're building a mystery
