Can I cut my nicotine patches in half or is that a Very Bad Idea? |
|
They're so damn expensive and I have to go down a step in awhile. It says in the instructions not to, but of course they wouldn't want me to-- I'd only have to buy half as many. Is this a big no-no?

I never used them myself, but I know a lot of people who did, and who would cut them.

3. They Won't Stick As Well... |
|
... but then again... I also had trouble with them when not cutting them in half.
My solution was to stick them on my LEG near my ankle... so that my SOCKS could hold the patch in place. Sure, I had to shave that part of my leg, or endure hair-pulling... but I only had to do it for the duration of the nicotine patch program (6-8 weeks for most people).
Good luck! The nicotine patches worked GREAT for me! It's been over three years now!

4. The only place they seem to stick is on my belly. |
|
I tried my arms, my chest, my legs. It was very annoying. I'm on Wellbutrin and the patch. I'm still on stage 1 of the patch-- I'm scared to see how I'll feel whe I drop down to a lower dose.:scared:

5. I would say it is a VBI* |
|
*Very Bad Idea because you need the high dosage of nicotine to keep you from smoking or suffering from withdrawal

7. Correct, but at some point I go from 14 mg down to 7mg patches. |
|
The 7 mg patches cost even more (for 14 day supply) than the 14 mg patches cost! If I can buy 14mg patches and cut them in half when I'm due to go down to 7 mg, one box would last me twice as long.

Since you're on Welbutrin, call your doc and ask this question re: cutting patch in half.

11. "She's addicted to nicotine patches..." |
|
No, don't fuck with them, cut them in half or do anything without thinking it through first.
Follow the program and play by the rules!
Not smoking sucks, not smoking and paying through the nose for it sucks more. But no half measures! This is a VBI.
Khash.
