Steve Martin & Jackie Chan in "The Pink Panther"?
Actually, Steve is a lock in the role. But some creative genius (and I mean that sincerly without sarcasm) has thought of casting Chan in the role of Cato.

Steve Martin officially came onboard, Shawn Levy is set to direct, and now 'Clifton Sleigh' has quite bit more on what else we can expect from this new incarnation of the classic Peter Sellers comedy film series:

"Martin is pulling down $15 million with a built-in option for a sequel. Jackie Chan and the original series' one and only Herbert Lom are "in talks" to play Cato and Dreyfus (the only other returning characters in Len Blum's script).

snip...........

If this happens, a title change will likely be the order of the day. By the way, while various newshounds are describing the project as a remake or a prequel when it's neither. I would describe it as The Pink Panther series for the 21st Century. End of story".

3. "the original series' one and only Herbert Lom"
As much as I liked him, if they're recasting everyone else, they should probably recast that role too.

4. Boooooooo!
Sorry, but that sucks. Peter Sellers was the last true comedic genius.

It will tarnish his memory. I wouldn't want to see someone play a new version of The Little Tramp or Groucho Marx either.

Hollywood is incapable of originality.
