I Just Wanna Say One Thing...

I've wanted to post a sort-of congratulations, celebratory type of thread for a while now. And while there's no shortage of people who could be honored for their valuable contributions to DU, I wanted to single out one particular group.

That would be the Generation Y DUers we have here. All those DUers who are under the age of 26.

I know who most of you are: Goobergunch, Slinkerwink, JohnKeeb, Musictvstar, leftpeoplefinishfirst, youngred, ect.

I just wanted to say I think you guys (and all the other Gen Yers we have here) are the coolest bunch of people to share a little internet message board with.

Sometimes I get down on my generation because I hear stories of how we like Bush so much and how uninterested in the world around us we are. But then I come here and I see people my own age making political observations that are better and more astute than the one's made by people twice their age and with twice their life and political experience.

And, I wouldn't be completely honest if I didn't say that I wasn't somewhat jealous of you guys because most of you are younger than me, and I'm just a kid myself at 25. So when you guys get to be my age you'll be kicking some serious Republican booty.

So, cheers to the young folk of DU. They are this country's future and it wouldn't shock me at all to find out that in 20 years or so I'll be voting for one of you guys for president.

I know what you're saying. I'm very impressed with the intelligence of our younger posters. They can run circles around me in a debate and I'm twice as old as some of them. Good going guys. You're giving the us older people hope.
