I just drove through a tornado, ask me anything. |
|
I went home for lunch and they announced tornado warnings for a county nearby. I decided to stay home until the squall line passed but then I remembered I had a pressing issue at work. I get through the gate (I work on an Army base) and those poor National Guard soldiers are standing out there in the pouring rain checking badges. It became noticeably darker and the rain intensity increased. They announced a tornado warning for the immediate vicinity and I hauled ass, MP's be damned. I rain into my building in the pouring rain and went to the basement where I found a tornado had touched down 6 miles to the south of me, causing damage. Power lines, trees down. Buildings damaged. Whew!

Just happened about an hour and a half ago. They're still accessing the damage. Downed trees are twisted. It's still about 70 here in Huntsville. Tonight we have flooding to look forward to and more storms.

Nothing major, power outages and trees down. A couple of roofs off. No fatalities.

I thought it was kind of exciting. I'm one of those weird women that likes severe weather.

8. Not so weird. I like severe weather too. |

Especially when I'm inside. :) My mom gets on me for being too close to windows when it's nasty out. I think she thinks lighting'll strike me.
