In fact, it is also greate than the 'MM' I suggested.

12. 9 exp. 9 is nearly 400 million and uses no symbols ...
... when written by hand, typewriter or a fancy word processor. It is just a big 9 with a little 9 at its one o'clock position. If that is not allowed, then I fall back on my MM guess.

Definitely, 99! is the largest if we can use symbols, though there's proabbly even something larger than that that one can make using multiple symbols...

But with no symbols, 9^9 would be it (since one writes it without the ^)

Of course, technically, you'd have to take the limit.

And 99! is MUCH larger than 9^9.

Edited to say that there are, of course, functions that grow even faster than factorial.
