and the director of the upcoming show called me to discuss...something...I can't really remember...probably lighting, which was what I was doing at the time. At that point, I was also writing editorials for the local paper (I have since moved and, sadly, the Chicago Tribune has little interest in rants from college students), so most everyone in town new my politics. Anyhow, my friend/colleague mentioned DU and the Top Ten Conservative Idiots, so, a few days later, I logged on, read the Top Ten, read the Hate Mailbag, skimmed the forums and jumped in immediately.

14. I was searching for betting odds on the 2002 midterms

I gamble, including on politics, and the offshore book I normally use was very tardy in posting odds in 2002. It got to late September and they still didn't have any numbers. I did a web search for political odds and one of the first results was a very recent thread here. The purported odds listed on that thread were a farce but overall the place looked extremely intriguing, and my first post was greeted warmly.
