DU-ers who can safely be in your house
Just wanted to pass the word along that I can now state for sure that it's safe to have

1. ProlesUnited
2. Blue Jay
3. Dr.GonzoLives/ScreamingJack'sRevenge
4 Salin

in your home.

I'm not sure about bloom, Nlighten1 and Will Pitt, but you can take all of them to bars, for sure.

I hear rumours that Pitt's been known to start small kitchen fires with common household appliances...

Teddy will bark at anyone that he doesn't know, and will nip if necessary.

7. I did find out that MATCOM
really does have a tush that looks like a smiley face, btw.

When Will was speaking to a group of students, a few of us did a tour of my favorite bathroom in Bloomington, then walked over to the site.

The student organizer gave us all pencils and pieces of papers for questions to ask Mr. Pitt.

Funny, but we didn't know the others were doing it, but we all wrote down snarky questions, which we saved to ask him later, after a beer.

(that's how I found out about MATCOM.)

17. Of course.
You're always prancing around showing your cyber-tush, so I HAD to ask... I was just curious.

He said you've had a really smiley-face butt since you met that Irish policeman who kept frisking you.

:)

Pitt is generally home-safe, unless you live in Europe.

20. It was totally tame
we were all well-behaved and I still have to play pool with Proles and Will (they were, of course, intimidated by my obvious pool prowess, I'm sure).

btw, never use the doubling cube and bet on backgammon with Proles.

30. Hey!
who said anything about shacking up? this is a no sex board.

:)

none of us had sex with each other...well, as far as I know. but a bunch of us went to the bathroom together.

I got to meet some other fun DUers in Washington last month, too, but I didn't have the chance to spend much time with them because I was also with other people.

But I know Boiler Babe would be a blast to hang out with, just because of her sunglasses.

statistically, you've thought of sex.

Not that I believe that. But it was fun to post.

Shacking up is/was southern for sex. Like the B-52s Love Shack. But you knew that, right?

43. Bloomington is definitely not a good place for
that sort of thing.

I'll tell you about my situation, but it's probably too much like too many others.

I considered, at one point, that I would commute to Columbia college, in Chicago, because I'd been invited to teach there...this is a one hour drive to a four hour train ride one way for three days a week... ultimately it wasn't worth it.

I have two kids, one high-functioning autistic, I'm divorced, I now have no insurance, and despite having won awards for my college work, having had an NEA grant, having a more than decent and recent portfolio of work, having been a Phi Beta Kappa student in the 90s, having been nominated to apply for a Rhodes Scholarship...

I am working in a job where I don't even make a living wage. I'm going back to school just to have insurance (and to do other things) even though I'd rather be contributing in a job.

So if Carlos finds a way to make it work, let me know.
