Lowes or Home Depot?
Which one is more proggressive? Or rather, which one is less evil?

2. Screw 'em both!
Do business with independent lumber yards and hardware stores! They're no better than Wal-Marts of the home-improvement industry! :grr:

3. Home Depot reminds me of Wal-Mart...
In their agressiveness in "railroading" local planning and zoning boards to force their way into communities. Lowe's doesn't do that--or at least, they don't have that same stigma attached.

Of course, I'm also a bit biased--Lowe's is a North Carolina-based firm, too! :eyes:

B-)

5. Both About The Same
Lowe's is better on their tool prices but Home Depot has a bigger hardware selection.

6. Lowes is my hometown, independent lumberyard
have been for years. I find the store better organized, and the quality is better too. They also make more of an effort to cater to us women DIYers.

7. Home Depot is a Bush contributer and they also sponsor
Nascar driver,Tony Stewart who is a strong Bush supporter. I don't know about Lowes, but they are sponsors of Nascar driven by Jimmy Johnson.Johnson's car is co-owned by Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick.Gordon was a Gore/Liberman supporter and Hendrick was pardoned by Clinton.Do your own math.

8. I don't follow NASCAR but...
Jeff Gordon was a Gore supporter?

I think alot of his fans up here in Minnesota would be unhappy to hear that.

11. Menards whups the ass of ALL OF THEM!!!
Here we have all three: Menards, Lowe's and Home Depot. And the Menards kicks the ASS out of the other two in terms of selection and size.

Also, I think Menards is more progressive. I'm pretty sure Home Despot is right-wing. Don't know about Lowe's. All I know is that their new mega-store here opened last spring, and it didn't live up to my expectations.

The Menards here is over 250 THOUSAND SQUARE FEET.

12. Home Depot
in this area (northern NJ) at least, the guys in the orange aprons are honest, hard-working and know what they're doing.

Bought a fence from Lowe's and it was a frigging nightmare.
