Poll question: How many books do you read at once? |
|
I'm curious if other DUers are book hounds like I am...on average I read four books at a time.

If I try to read 4, one of them usually gets neglected.

7. I Put Four But it Varies |
|
A lot of books I never finish. I stopped feeling bad when I got bored or never started a book I bought. I just move on to something else. My reading volume has gone down a lot in the last few years.

8. You forgot the option "zero". |
|
Unless textbooks count as "books". If they do, then I'm currently reading five.

Several in the cabinet in the bathroom, one or two in the car, and a few at the office. Yep, my wife and I have an Amazon habit.

I've had a lot of students claim to be able to read and comprehend multiple books at a time. But when they've taken the reading comprehension exam while reading 2, 4 or 6 at a time their scores fore reading comprehension plummet.
It's kind of like watching people who swear they can drive while drunk. Seeing is believing.

13. I can't remember the last time I actually finished a book. |
|
So, I'm probably reading, at least, 20 right now.

Most every day of my life. Eight in a day would not be unusual, though I don't have to read them cover-to-cover anymore. Just sniff out the pages with stuff I don't know. Often I'll read something I've read before, if it's the sort of book that engenders creative thought. Mostly I am still just learning things. I buy books by the truckload (literally) and sort them out for potential, then go through them voraciously. I have to admit it's gotten harder to find unfamiliar stuff, and I seldom risk wasting time on fiction. Also there's the internet I haven't finished yet.
