1. I've heard if Wellstone died the next day, he'd have been on the ballot.
Just too fishy.

2. naaa
I thought it was an unscheduled flight. He was on his way to a funeral for a state senator (or a former one) who had recently died. (correct me if I am wrong)

If, and I mean big if, it was sabotage then they planned it real quick.

I just don't think it was anything but an accident. A really shitty accident.

17. The time of the flight was unscheduled
He did change his plans for the day to attend the funeral (though I think it was for the father of a state rep - he was friends with both father and son).

However, he was scheduled to fly to Duluth later in the day for a rally that evening. He and Kennedy planned to hook up at that rally.

3. It doesn't matter
The fact that so many people think it's a conspiracy says more about the neocons than anything else. They have proven that they're capable of anything, so conspiracy theories are much easier to come up with.

I myself take the position that we just don't know. But the neocons have shown more than enough inclination to play this dirty.

One conspiracy theory I do put stock in, is that Al Gore decided to sit this election out for fear of being assassinated. Too many right-wingers (and a couple of lefties) hated him way too much. Hell, I wouldn't even put it past Team Bush to knock off Bush himself if they thought it would help them realize their dream of an American Reich.

18. I agree
and while I freely admit that I lean toward in not being an accident, one of the things that struck me was how many people are suspicious. And a lot of the people I've talked to that think this way aren't activists and a couple of them weren't that fond of Wellstone.

4. It was an EMP weapon
That is the only thing that explains all the facts that are known.

An alrm would have sounded if the plane slowed too much but would NOT have gone off if the electrical circuits were jammed by an emp device and the plane stalled because of that.

It is the only theory that makes sense to me and is consistent with all the facts.

5. I agree
Electromagnetic pulse weapon. There is also the Karl Rove connection. Rove was involved with Ashcroft's campaign in 2000 (Carnahan plane crash).

10. So, the only fact-based conclusion of Imeprial Rome
for all the people who stood between Tiberius and the Imperial Throne dying or being banished was also coincidence/accidental.

But 2000 years later the dazzle of the denial of the present makes us look at it with a bit more skepticism.

As I'm sure future historians will look at the convenient incidents which accompanied the beginnings of Imperial Amerika.

12. False analogy.
The events to which you refer were positive, well-documented acts, vis a vis the banishments. The only evidence in the Wellstone case supports one conclusion only--- an accident.

16. And what about the mysterious deaths
of Antony's son, adopted by Caeser. Of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa and his two sons?

(I am guessing I am missing a couple...better go back and reread Suetonius and Tacitus)

Is "conspiracy theorist" supposed to be a negative label?

Is "conspiracy theorist" supposed to be a negative label?

No, it's a term of endearment reserved for our most intelligent and noble citizens.
