Was last night's Simpsons' Halloween special LAME, or what?
Edited on Mon Nov-07-05 11:26 AM by Rabrrrrrr
What a freaking disappointment it was. Awful!

Had a few very funny moments, but overall, really weak. Weaker than anything I've seen in the last two years.

1. The only part I laughed at was the end...when Maggie turned them
all into binky's. :hi:

2. I thought it was really funny
"I am no longer a happy meal."

I thought it was a lot funnier than most of the stuff I've seen over the past two years.

Maybe one or two laughs, and those were just "heh"s.

4. I gave up on them after the first season with Ian Maxton Graham
producing.

7. Is that the bastard responsible for the demise of the Simpsons?
I am sooooooo mad about it! They turned my favorite show into CRAP!

9. when Al Jean and Matt Groenig left at the end of season 5 or 6
Fox hired IMG to replace them. IMG had, by his own admission, never watched an episode of The Simpson's before and immediately discarded the carefully structured bible for the show that outlined how Homer and family were supposed to be a reflection of REAL LIFE and not a cartoon show.

He turned it into a cartoon show.

5. I HATE the new Simpsons!
There! I said it!

I can't even WATCH the new Simpsons episodes they are so bad: The lines are out of character and the jokes are stupid.

In other words, the writing is HORRIBLE! Hear that, new Simpson writers? You are mediocrity personified and you turned my favorite show to SH*T! And I will NOT forgive you for this!

URGENT! Timing is critical to save earthquake victims before winter!

6. Pretty sure they have stopped trying
The few shows I have seen it's pretty clear they are trying to burn their bridges. Destroy the characters and anything else they can think of.

8. Simpsons is getting "Ren & Stimpied"
Nickolodeaon hated the show, so they drove the writers crazy with stupid rules until it was dropped. Well, not exactly like that, but close.

14. Na, Krisfaluci was crazy already
Whacked out on heroine most of the time. He got fired because he wasn't making deadlines. Of course without his drug induced genius the show took a nose dive.

Art... really hard to put on a schedule or a business plan.

16. I never got Krickfalusi or his mentor Bakshi
their constant reverence of Tex Avery just didn't work for me.

18. Avery I can see...
but not Bakshi. Sub par rotoscoped animation all the way around. Adult subjects mostly but way too "cartoony"...

The one piece of his I did like was Fire and Ice, and even then only because Frank Frazetta was the creative director.

19. I see them as explorers of their limited environment
Animation has so much more potential than the western industry allows for. Bakshi and his followers approached animation from within the western market. They adapted from the material they had at hand. Of the Avery was the most surreal.

Western animation is intrinsically hobbled by our societies distaste with drawn figures. We naturally assume them to be inferior to live action or photos. But the thing of it is the director/animator has so much more control of the medium than a movie director has. They can create every nuance exactly as their vision details it. It is a much more detailed pallet than a live action medium provides for.

20. Wow, I thought it was one of the best Treehouses in a long time!
And maybe that's because the last few seasons have been a major disappointment.

21. I did too
And I thought that the Family Guy was one of the worst ones in recent memory. (everyone seems to disagree with me about that, too.)

The opening bit with Kang and Kodos watching baseball was hilarious. I loved the expression on God's face as he was sucked into nothingness.

22. I have missed the last 8 or 9 years, so I only have the first 6 seasons
and last year's episode to go by.

So if it was better than the last couple years, that could very well be.
