The white stripes sell out |
|
no surprise. jack white has become a starlet-dating michael jackson imitator anyway
from pitchforkmedia.com:
White Stripes to Sell Coca-Cola, Live Tracks
Rob Kleckner reports: Sorry, G. Love. Looks like Coca-Cola have hired a new blues-loving white rock star to hawk their product. According to NME.com, Jack White is taking his love of red and white to the next level, having penned a brand new jingle for a forthcoming ad campaign by the soft drink behemoth.
"I've been offered the opportunity to write a song in a way which interests me as a songwriter," White told NME.com. "I certainly wouldn't want a song that I'd already written to be used on a commercial. That seems strange. But to be asked to write something particular along one theme of love in a worldwide form that I'm not really used to appealed to me." Not to get all grammar-Nazi up in here, but the way that came out makes it seem like Jack's not used to worldwide love. Well, he is from Detroit...
"I've written a song and I wrote it really quickly and it's an interesting commercial that's been made," he said. "I was inspired by the commercial."
An ad inspiring more than the urge to buy massive amounts of stuff, masturbate, or destroy one's television? Sounds like something special. We hope Michel Gondry directed it!

Strokes sound like they're a Doors cover band or something. I liked one of their song.
White Stripes on the other hand have their own sound. Shitty drum and weird ass vocals = cool. I frickin LOVED his cover of Jolene. Yes, indeed!

4. What the fuck is wrong with making money.... |
|
Just because someone is popular and is enjoying some hard won success, and I might add, with a breath of fresh air in the over produced, little talented popular music genre...
I love Jack...
Let him make some money for christ sakes so he can continue to do what he wants....

5. I like the White Stripes & had to take a deep breath to read |
|
the post -afraid of what i'd read- but I'm exhaling now.
He wrote a song for an ad... doesn't seem like such a sellout to me. It made me laugh to read, "I wrote it really quickly..." ok, Jack, simmer down. Let's see and hear this thing...
I still like Neil Young's attitude tho, "ain't singing for Pepsi. aint' singin for Coke. I don't sing for nobody, makes me look like a joke. This note's for YOU!"
