Head spinning in circles, dazed, confused, can you make sense of this?
"The people have given us the duty to defend them and that duty sometimes requires the violent restraint of violent men. In some cases the massive use of force is all that protects us from a chaotic world ruled by force," Bush said in the keynote speech of his three-day state visit to Britain, which has been marked by deep public opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq (news - web sites).

in a voilent world, IOW.

This is the born-again view that the world is inherently evil and must be tamed, stopped.

Yeah, sheer use of force. That brings about peace on earth, * . :eyes:

3. "...can you make sense of this?"

No.

But it is fun watching CNN talk to its two republican spin-meisters, who are calling it a "very good" speech, despite the fact that Bush clearly does not have "Bill Clinton's ability to move an audience."

What a classic understatement.

They are beginning to sound like Bush, saying that increases in terrorism is a sign we are winning...the more incoherent and rambling Bush becomes, the clearer his message.

Sheesh.

Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 10:27 AM by underpants
ON EDIT-He said "measured" I just watched it, but still.........

http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/europe/11/19/britain.bush/index.html

"In some cases, the measured use of force is all that protects us from a chaotic world ruled by force," Bush said Wednesday during his address at Banqueting House, a government building near Buckingham Palace.

12. It is 1984
Violent men must be restrained by violence. (Violence is wrong. So I must use violence to prevent violence.)
Use of Massive Force protects us from use of Massive Force. (Rule by force is wrong. So I must use force to prevent force from ruling.)
I am sure there must be "newswriters" who go back to plant stories to support today's statements.

The head does spin. To Bush: You are an evil man! Bush response: I know you are but what am I?
