Paul Anka just told a fucking lie |
|
on Jimmy Kimmel show....don't come here much but it seemed the place to vent.
He told the great story of Frank Sinatra getting his teeth punched out by Cohen in Vegas for not paying his marks....
But Anka was never there...my Dad was sitting next to Cohen and witnessed the whole thing....and Anka's version was not true...Sinatra didn't over throw the crap table....
Everyone (waitresses) HATED Sinatra and every pbx operator spread the story up and down the strip in minutes and they all went out to celebrate that he finally got what was coming to him.... I don't even think Paul Anka had ever appeared in Vegas at that time...what a slime ball to steal that story.

am answering myself...he's singing now....oh the horror of it all
At least my 90 yr old Dad who was an orchestra leader for Sinatra and the best wouldn't humiliate himself this way.

|
he was great to the musicians (my Dad)really appreciated talent...but he was a total asswipe to any waitress or bartender, pbx operator, hostess...let's just say...any person who was beneath him...he was a total jerk. Have lots of stories...he used to come to our house between shows.

12. Sinatra supposedly punched out a restaurant host over Lena Horne |
|
In a good way: Horne was working in Vegas in the 50's at the same time as Sinatra, and he took her to dinner somewhere. The host at the restaurant refused to allow Horne in the front door, and insisted that she enter through the back (possibly the kitchen). Sinatra stood his ground, words were exchanged, and finally fists. I don't know if they ever ate there or not.
A story that proves Sinatra could be rude and brutal to "regular folks," but also one that proves he had a certain chivalry and desire for social justice.

4. Wasn't sinatra a real asshole to the little people? |
|
My grandmother did costuming for Hollywood in the early sixties and spoke of meeting Sinatra, someone she had idolized as a teenager, but well...

But he seemed so nice on Bonanza and as a kid he did this 45 record with the theme song of Bonanza and Ringo on the flip side (talking over music). I remember:
He lay face down in the desert sand Clutching a six gun in his hand Shot from behind I thought he was dead But under his heart was an ounce of lead.
Something like that anyway.

9. Didn't Snotra once perform in Italy for a hospital benefit? |
|
One that had been ravaged by an earthquake and he left with most of the proceeds?

10. You may have a book on your hands. |
|
I think people might want to read some of those stories. Or....you could just keep them to yourself and share them with friend. I'm just saying.
