Hee hee, wanna get a Republican riled up?
I had no idea this was still such a sensitive spot for them, until I mentioned it at work.

"Gore got more votes than Bush."

Such a simple fact, yet they're falling all over themselves sputtering about the Electoral College, "statistical tie", etc.

Ha ha ha

They can't STAND the idea that more Americans wanted Gore for president.

1. I Like To Hear Them Bitch About Dimbo
And innocently remark "You got what you voted for."

2. Gore couldn't win his own state, but Bush couldn't win his own country
This causes freeper circuit breakers to pop.

3. Not sure if that will work ...
We have Ditto-head at work here. Just after the Selection, he said that Gore did not in fact get more (popular) votes than AWOL.

He claimed that in California for example, they stopped counting votes after it was realized that the outcome of California could not be affected.

He said that not only did AWOL get more votes, but claims that if all the votes had been counted in California, it would have revealed that AWOL won the popular vote by more than 2 million.

I told him he was full of shit. With Repukes, it is not about what happened, it is about what people are willing to believe happened.

Revisionist history at its best.

Cheers
Drifter

7. I was told same thing
I was told same thing. i worked as an election offical once and ALL the votes were counted. I asked the same question here a couple months ago and other DUers who worked as election officals all said the same thing, they don't stop counting until every vote is counted (not applicable in Florida)

4. Give them this Bush quote, they'll jump out a window.
"Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not. It needs to be in our vital interest, the mission needs to be clear, and the exit strategy obvious. I'm not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say this is the way it's got to be. I think the United States must be humble … in how we treat nations that are figuring out how to chart their own course." GWB, 2000

8. Check out "electoral college" in the Congressional Record online
you'll find a bunch of Republicans screaming for reforming or eliminating it, circa late 1996 well into 1997.

Hell, all you have to do is look at the weeks prior to November 2000. Even Rush Limbaugh was saying that there were legal avenues which W could take if "Bush won the popular vote, but lost the electoral vote". Whoops.
