'Family Guy' COMING BACK!
Maybe...Woo Hoo!

http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2003-11-18-family-guy_x.htm

'Family Guy' may return

Baby Stewie could be staging a comeback.

Family Guy could return with as many as 35 new episodes for January 2005.

In a sign of the growing importance of DVD sales to Hollywood, 20th Century Fox is considering a plan to resume production of Family Guy, a sometimes crude animated comedy that the Fox network took off the air more than 18 months ago.

--snip--

Now if only the same could happen w/ Futurama!

1. w00t!
About time - the show got cancelled before its prime.

Futurama is a different story - it was fairly expensive to put together, so I don't see it coming back any time soon.

5. I don't think so
The production staff has all left.

Where did you hear that they are still making episodes? That just wouldn't make any sense, the show has been cancelled...

3. I vaguely remember
Matt Groening saying at the San Diego ComiCon that talks were going on about continuing production of Futurama with help from the Cartoon Network. But of course he would give out any details.

But that is awesome about Family Guy!

6. Holy crap! This has just made my day!
Even if this is just a rumor, it's a step in the right direction. Seth Macfarlane is an incredibly talented writer and voice actor.

I second the sentiment... now if only they would do the same thing as Futurama. Both shows drew HUGE audiences for Cartoon Network, and did very well on DVD. Christ, if Fox stopped sabotaging its own success, it might have a few reputable shows on its schedule these days. There are audiences out there for smart and really funny shows like these if they just air them when people will actually be watching.

9. Fox Definitely Sabotaged Futurama
They puposely buried it in a bad timeslot in which it was constantly bumped due to football. The problem w/ Futurama was that because of his leverage w/ the Simpsons, Groening ws able to get a deal where he maintained too much control of the series, including the licensing. Fox just didn't have the monetary incentive to really get behind it because Groening would reap most of the profits from the merchandising...
