NYC DU Gathering - who wants one
I'm NOT organizing it - just tossing the idea out on the table for a bunch of us to gather at a dive bar and drink cheap beer. What a way for us to end the year!! And I need an excuse to go to NYC again soon!

18. Let's try this - everyone who wants to go
PM me 4 dates and times that you can make it.

In the meantime, people PM me suggestions of where to have it.

19. God, I don't know, DU gatherings seem to create a lot of
insane behavior from seemingly sane adults.

I don't know if I'll ever attend another big one.

21. This isn't going to be like the DC protests
This is a bunch of us gathering at a set time to have drinks and a good time.

I'm not keen on organizing another gathering after the last one but surely I would plant seeds for something like NYC. It'll be fun. We'll hang out in some cool downtown dive bar in the afternoon and drink our hearts content as we talk politics and what not.

Please come :D

23. Depends on where they have it
Usually I like staying down in the Village or Chelsea. The last 2 NYC gatherings we found these great dive bars in NYC where we didn't have to worry about reservations or dinner crowds. The one I did for the RNC convention was at Rocky Sullivans which is an awesome liberal establishment. They don't serve food but you're allowed to bring take-out to the restaurant (and the area is surrounded by Thai/Indian/Vegetarian restaurants).

But the other place was really good because it had a tiny outside alcove where folks could go to have a smoke and still have their beers . I'm not sure where I'm staying just yet - want to see if it's a weekend that Ramsey can go (You'll absolutely love her!!). But as long as you're on the lower end of Manhatten you should be fine with your hotel room. Except avoid the Milford Plaza. We got stuck there last gathering because we didn't think we were going until the last minute and the entire city was booked because of the BElmont and Puerto Rican day parade. That was a horrible hotel!!

20. One more thing, though, Lynne:
Michael and I thought you did a fantastic job at putting together the gathering at the Hawk and Dove.

We should have written and thanked you...not one other person could have done a better job than you!

Stephanie (and Michael...who is at work to earn money to go to DC in the Spring! ;) )

27. Sounds Great ! You better "hustle" with those Room Reservations for Dec !?
December 1st-18th is almost entirely booked...all though the closer to Christmas the "better", go figure. 4-to-a-room may help alleviate the Room-rate-'gouging' I'm seeing.

Have fun,DUers!

Bottoms Up!
