Freeps visiting my site...why???

I just noticed a spike in hits to my site and they seem to be getting referred to me from the Freep website...I don't know why. It's a progressive news-site and I've started posting essays as of Monday. But nothing about them.

Like I said, they seem to be coming from the Freep mainpage, but I don't notice any links to brainshrub.com there. It's not like I don't want them and they aren't writing hate-mail or flooding my server. But why would two dozen freepers hit my site within the last hour? Heck, I haven't had that many DUers to visit my site in the past 24 hours!

Any other DU webmasters have this happen to them?

We create a dummy DU site that traps'em and holds'em there while we carry on elsewhere freeper free.

Yes, I was baffled because I run a hobby website that is totally non-political. I finally figured that a freeper had linked to a graphic on my site for his signature line! so everytime someone pulled up his note, my site got a hit. I have since changed the graphic's name several times to stop such linking.

but I have no graphics on my front page. Now, there are plenty of fun pics on the "Adult material" on my site. But no other pic, except the cornucopia. Also, they are comming from ronaldreagan.com and pabaah.com. WTF????????? I cross checked both sites and I find no reference to me whatsoever.

And I'm registering different IPs, so it's not all one user or website.

Oh, for the record: Within 5 of my post 17 DUers visited my site! Wow! DU has numbers I can only dream of.

3. Directly from FR? Hmmmm

Sometimes freepers will post something from DU that's particularly scurrilous (from their point of view). JimRob deletes it almost immediately, usually with a furious diatribe about not quoting or otherwise referencing us socialist pantywaists. Now I could see how somebody could have cut and pasted a thread to there, but even freepers wouldn't be stupid enough to include your link accidentally. Maybe one of our freeper trolls saw the link here, followed it, and decided you needed to be freeped. Maybe their mods nipped it in the bud before you got more than a couple dozen. Don't know why they would have, but that would explain why you can't find a link there anymore.

I want the nut jobs to come to my site so they can send me hate mail. I like posting the hate mail and then making fun of it.

Because I don't see me referenced anywhere. I don't see a link back to DU AND it's comming from different websites.

It's kind of like if you owned an ice-cream store and people kept walking into your store to ask where you display your lingerie. Sooner or later you have to ask yourself: "Why are people under this impression? Why are they asking me? Who is telling them I sell ladies underwear?"

I know that after I posted my essay about WalMart I got some hits from Arkansas...but that was logical. This isn't.
