Da truth: Once-feared Bears more chumps than champs
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~86~1775756,00.html

CHICAGO - Its big shoulders sagging, there is a pall that hovers over this city. The fog begins early in any given week, building until it reaches its zenith on Sunday afternoon.

Expected to last for most of the next six weeks, the only relief from the darkness comes from lashing out at the source of the collective melancholy - da Bears.

How bad are things for the local NFL franchise, 3-7 heading into Sunday's game against the Broncos at Invesco Field at Mile High? Put it this way: Steve Bartman could parade through the stands at Soldier Field wearing a sign reading "Go Marlins!" and no one would notice amid the bile directed at anyone who plays for the Bears, anyone who works for the Bears, anyone, even, with the temerity to suggest things could be worse with the team.

Actually, that's anyone associated with the current team, because, chances are, even if Chicago's record were reversed, it still would have a hard time measuring up.

(snip) More at link.....

Go Denver.

1. Two Words: Kordell Stewart
Who in their right mind would sign this clown to be an NFL quarterback? The only consistent proof he's given the NFL over the course of his career is that HE DOESN'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES to be a consistently successful NFL quarterback.

2. Yah, wipe your nose - try the Lions
Excuse me for a lack of sympathy. You guys took a big crash, but your "rivals" a couple of hundred miles away have birthed and buried fans. Sorry if this ticks you off; here's another: Barry was better than Walter. See how mean we can get after 47 years?

5. Apples and Oranges
Barry and Walter - apples and oranges.

And desire to stick it out in the face of bad teams for a long time is also a measure of greatness - add that to Walter's resume.

And besides - the Lions have a lot more tools to build on. In spite of that AWFUL display that passed for a football game two weeks ago -the Lions have two talented young QBs, TWO! They have good receivers.

Running game though? Baaad.

Glad to have former Wolverine A-Train (and Terrell, who should have a breakout year next season when the speedy but stone-handed Dez White is in a different uniform).

But you can't, CAN'T bash Walter.

6. I don't have a dog in this fight: I'm a lifelong Broncos fan.
I'm just getting Chicago fans ready for this weekend when we hand them their collective asses on a platter.

4. cry me a river. the chargers have won all of two games.
they lost to da Bears. Chargers are without question the worst team in the league. Please Santa, all I wants for Xmas is to see Schottenheimer's ass packing his things to leave.

7. No organization is as messed up as my beloved Bears...

The McCaskey family has run them into the ground, flat out!! 5 years ago the bears dawdled in naming a head coach, Mike McCaskey found his man in Dave McGinnis and promptly screws that up and McGinnis, a loyal ex-assistant and friend of the family turns them down. So, McCaskey hires a fellow Yalie Jauron. By this time 8 other head coaches had been snatched up.

http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/col_rozner.asp?intid=37921122

snip-------
While McCaskey dawdled, eight teams - Baltimore, Carolina, Cleveland, Green Bay, Kansas City, Philadelphia, San Diego and Seattle - hired head coaches.

When McCaskey finally found Jauron, those eight new head coaches had already hired 118 new assistant coaches, and the remaining NFL clubs brought in 43 new assistants.

That's 169 head coaches and assistants plucked off the shelves by the time the Bears went shopping for a staff, and that doesn't include the coaches who already had jobs.

So what was left for the Bears?
snip-------

So, after that debacle mikey mccaskey got fired by his mommy and Ted Phillips was promoted from being the cap specialist into holding the keys to the kingdom. The personel director (they had no GM) feels uncomfortable with both the new prez and the new head coach and leaves. The new prez hires a headhunter to find a GM and comes up with Jerry Angelo, who was cheered in Tampa because he was leaving.

So, we have a head coach hired by the Owner's son whom the owner fired, 4th rate coordinators and assistants, a Gm who was not given the courtesy of bringing in his own coaches (because the family loves Jauron) but is a buffoon nonetheless and a team prez who is an accountant by nature whose main task was to get a new stadium built on the taxpayers dime in order to increase Virginia McCaskey's estate to leave to her 13 children amongst whom there is alot of infighting.

The Bears are FU**ED until the family sells and they clean house totally, and that ain't gonna be for a long time!!! I swear, only the BFEE and PNAC get me madder than to see what has happened to this once proud franchise!!!

8. Dave McGinnis
Despite what the Cardinals record this year is he is a good coach, it is not his fault he has no real super stars on his team with the exception of Anquan Boldin who is having a breakout rookie season. Last year he leads Arizona to a 4-2 start, their entire team gets injured well 12 starters and 6 replacement starters were gone for the rest of the season by the Philadelphia Game. They didn't have David Boston for most of the year, he will probaly be fired after this year but I hope the best for him in his coaching career. People's careers just don't flourish in the football wasteland of the NFL.

10. Go Seahawks?
If San Francisco hopes to catch the other teams in that division they better root against the Seahawks.
