Godammit, I have writter's block and I have an essay to write!
Granted, writing about whether or not one needs to rejected "the body, the reason, and human relationships in order to be a true Christian" as explained in Augustine's Confessions isn't the most interesting of topics, but dammit , I've been staring at the computer for an hour and have written only 2 paragraphs...
ARGH! x(

2. Actually, that is kind of an interesting topic.
I haven't read Augustine, alas, or I'd be able to discuss it intelligently with you. But doesn't Augustine go on at length about how he gave up masturbating (it's a rumor, anyway)? And the reason question is sort of the heart of Christianity, in my opinion. The whole religion is designed so that it MUST be taken on faith. I don't know what Augustine says on the subect, though.

5. He didn't masturbate..he just slept around a LOT
The question is interesting, but the problem is I can't articulate my thoughts well on this subject. I'm writing about how one does not need to give up "reason" in order to be a trust Christian- you just need to place the spiritual knowledge over all other knowledge, like scientific knowledge. But for some reason, I'm having trouble tonight x(

3. Just write. Anything on the subject. Just write and write.
After you get a page, organize what you've written. Fill in quotes, factual footnoted statements, and you're on your way.

Write.

4. That's not writer's block
You just don't want to do the essay. :D

Why would a Christian need to reject the body?

Why would a Christian need to reject human relationships?

Why would a Christian need to reject reason?

Augustine said what??

Etc...fairly straightforward questions...just answer em.

7. You can do it!
1. Define what Augustine opined was a "true Christian", i.e, the attributes, the acts, the elements of faith.

2. Then outline three points: rejection of the body; rejection of reason; and rejection of human relationships. Compare each topic to the definition. Either you have to reject, not reject (i.e., you are allowed to retain or utilize), or a little of both for each topic.

3. Think of examples to substantiate your opinion as per Augustine's writings.

4. Conclude by summarizing how you have proved your thesis with your research.

It's just a matter of organization. You can do this. Good luck.
