I find I lack the moral authority to make fun of MySpace.com....
...because of the time I spend on DU. Yet, I remain convinced the teenager learns nothing of value on MySpace, and by contrast I am constantly enriched by my time here.

Kitten threads notwithstanding.

Double standard? Crotchety old-guy talk? Will MySpace be the downfall of civilization?

Discuss.

1. MySpace is a tool, nothing more or less.
It is what you make of it...I've used it to organize LTTE campaigns, protests, flash-mobs and meet some very kickass people. Spread word about art showings, poetry readings and cool lectures. Promote my writing.

OTOH, I know people that use it for the purpose of random hookups and other less than high-minded pursuits. Mostly, it's just a fun little networking tool, same as DU or your local watering hole. A way to talk to and find people with a shared interest.
