Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 06:08 PM by DS1
How dare they! Dressing up like Santa and delivering toys! There should be a LAW against this, I am furious!

This is the HITLER YOUTH ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!

STOMP CRASH STOMP

Link, if you can stomach it

Since my ears are still ringing from the sonic boom of this thread going right over the majority of DUers heads, it's sarcasm, pretty damn blatant sarcasm at that. It's also in the lounge. It's a reference to this discussion, where the Marines you 10 to 12 people just defended and their service-providing breatheren are called all sorts of nasty shit. Have at it.

5. The Marines have had the Toys for Tots program for years
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 05:56 PM by demsrule4life
god forbid they are trying to bring a little happinness to less fortunate kids. Guess I have to tell my oldest son that is a Marine not to do it, I would hate to see him as some jackbooted thug.

How many toys have you delivered to the poor?

6. A great program
The Marine Corps has been operating the "Toys for Tots" program since 1947, and have delivered millions of toys to needy children during the holidays. It's a great program, and it puts a smile on the face of a child. How could you oppose that?

7. They are obviously instilling the image of a false Santa
in the minds of these young disadvantaged, usually fatherless, children. Then they can sign up to become Santa, or as Rumsfeld quipped, strategically and tactically irrelevant.

and Iraq to the proximity of their land mines.

9. maybe they just want to be nice
These are kids. By the time their of age to serve in the military it will be three presidents from now. And I'm sure not all of them are going to go off to join the army.

The army isn't Bush. The army isn't Rumsfeld. Sometimes it's just soldiers who want to help kids.

Sure beats being in Iraq, I'm sure.

13. You're not serious I hope.
If not for the Toys For Tots program, my six siblings and I would have gone without gifts when we were kids. My dad was in a veterans' hospital as a result of action he saw in the South Pacific during WWII and what little my mother made selling home backed goods barely kept a roof over our heads.

I must have been indoctrinated by those facists as I was an active war resister during the illegal war in Viet Nam, and am a life long democrat.

You should be ashamed.

By the way, I have donated to Toys For Tots for more than 40 years.

29. Some people see what they want to see, and never
really understand what they are replying to, in their haste to express disgust. It's part of the game. I just wish more of the people defending this program, which I definitely find nothing wrong with (which has nothing to do with either myself or my brother being Marines <- nothing at all), would have said something in the other thread linked where the military is bashed left and right, again.

The military is run by civilians, some people around here are too quick to forget that, this is my back-handed way of complaining. Or as someone else suggested, trotting out my red herring. Never tried to walk a fish though.

30. I would have been more vocal on that thread...
...but I rapidly realized it was pointless, and my posts would have gotten steadily nastier, and more cutting. I'm really tryig to help Skinner and crew out by posting civilly. Some people, and threads, make it hard though.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over?

Are you insuiniating that by having United States Marines dress up as Santa in their RED suits, that this in some way will bring back the evil scourge of Red Communists in this country?

Why, I bet you are some kind of pinko subursive or something.

Imagine, trying to convert the fish to communism. Harrrupmph.

So I fail to see what they do , or what's so bad.

Is it marine soldiers dressing up like Santa giving away toys if the kids parents sign up or something? :)

25. The Marines Even Got The Bikers In On It
The Christmas Toy run is an annual event in my city. The Bikers buy new toys and make a poker run out of it every year in December.

I think the Marines want to recruit the Bikers too.
