Are There Any Free Versions of Photoshop?
I'm just interested to know before I potentially drop $50 on a new version.

1. aside from gimp, no
Gimp can do pretty much most of what photoshop can do, that you'll need to do. And I hear it's available or close to available for windows.

2. AFAIK no

However the lite version ("Elements") is sometimes bundled with scanners and other Computer Hardware. Sometimes the hardware is cheaper than the software alone.

The only real free alternative I know of is the GIMP - but it's written for Linux and installing it under Windows can be a nightmare.

Edit:
The Tryout version is free (for Elements and Photoshop), but doesn't allow you to save or print the results.

7. VERSION 2 !
That's pretty darn old...
I don't think you would be happy with version 2. There are probably free ware programs that could run circles around Photoshop 2...

Save your money.

Try paint shop pro. You can probably get the latest version for about 50 bucks.

10. Sounds like Photoshop Elements 2.0...
the real Photoshop costs hundreds, typical Adobe arrogance...

Elements has, well, elements of Photoshop but is suited to photo editing rather than all-out layered image creation.

6. GIMP is very good. For Linux. Windblows version is not
Windoze version is not ready for prime time.

$50 bucks for photoshop? I thought it was alot more than that.

It's free on Kazaa.

9. Photoshop Ltd
It used to be bundled with some scanners. It lets you do basic stuff. I registered it, then got a $299 full version offer from Photoshop a few months later.

This was a couple of years back so I don't know if the information is still current.
