My favorite food to eat in the entire world any day of the week
is:

shrimp egg rolls.

I can live on them.

What is your favorite food of all time anytime?

1. It was about a year ago when I had it the first time...
Singapore Chili Crab, pretty much the national dish.

I have dreamt about it, sought it out in NYC, and figured out how to make a pretty darn good version..


Try it if you EVER get the chance.

5. a really, really good lasagna . . .
but they're awfully hard to find . . . which is why I make my own . . . but only occasionally . . . doing it right is a l-o-o-o-n-g process . . .

9. Griot!
GRIOT (6 Servings)

Ingredients:
a 3 lbs shoulder of pork, cut into 1 to 2 inch cubes
one cup of sour (bitter) orange juice
a half cup of chopped shallots
one chopped hot green pepper
a finely chopped large onion
a half cup of vegetable oil
salt


Preparation:
Marinate the meat days in advance, some people prefer over night.

Marinate the washed griot meat with salt, fresh chopped hot pepper (only use habaneros or scotch bonnets) and the sour orange juice ONLY (if you can't find sour orange, use a 50/50 mixture of grapefruit and orange).

If you cook it the next day or a few days later, remember to check the level of salt because the fridge will absorb it.

Place the marinated pork on the stove, and simmer for 90 minutes or until pieces are tender. My recipe only uses sour orange juice no water.

Once cooked, drain the mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix some of the sour orange juice, chopped hot pepper & some of the gravy from the cooked pork.


I use a deep fryer for the cooking.

Fry the pork in the pot until brown and crusty on the outside but tender on the inside. Hmmmmm- sexual ecstasy here!

The next step for me is to put the whole plate of fried griot in a warm oven with chopped onions,challots & green/red peppers on top.

Pour some of the mixture you prepared on top of the fried meat and let it sit in the warm oven for 15 minutes.

Griots are a very tasty Haitian treat.

They are usually presented in the main course of a meal and are complemented with riz ak pwa kole (Rice stuck with beans) or riz djon-djon (special mushroom rice) and banan pese (fried green plaintains).

Most Haitans eat their griots with burning hot Ti-Malice sauce.


This should be yummie.

Angel Hair Spaghetti and good Italian (preferably Marconi, but I think it is local only?) bread and real butter, and a salad with oil and red wine vinegar.

Filet Mignon with a baked potato with and a side of Asparagus will do just fine too. Still have to have the salad with oil and red wine vinegar with it though.

Topped with chopped nuts, raisins, maple syrup, a dash of cinnamon, and a teaspoon of homemade butter. The ultimate breakfast comfort food.
