Oh is this gross.. TONSIL STONES eww |
|
:puke:
This is so nasty... I have to tell someone - hubbys still at work and my moms not home.
I've been having this nasty ass nasal dranage and I figured its probably my allergies since its been going on well over a month now. I also get this nasty taste occasionally from the back of my throat.
I start this nasty hacking spell and I go to the sink to spit out whatever came up and there was this chunk of god knows what that looked like an oat cluster from cereal.
As I'm the hypochondriac of the year in my town I'm thinking the worst.. I'm coughing up parts of my lung.
So I go online and I search like mad for smelly oat bran looking stuff from throat and like terms and I came up with tonsil stones.
SOOO GROSS. It even smelled like hell.
I just had to share :)

I was in the er the other day because of my eye thing and they ruled out everything from tumors to masses to aneruysm (sp) from a CT scan and told me I have a migrane.

But if you coughed it up, it was probably a mucous plug. My mom has serious pulminary problems, so I've learned more than I want to know on the subject.

|
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 07:30 PM by Jamastiene
That's what I was doing before I had my gall bladder taken out. It was the consistency of large pellets of brown sand mixed with yellowish brown bile. I could hear it hitting my teeth. Trust me, there is grosser than tonsil stones.
:D Btw, hope you get well soon.

kinda old cake though. Here's the truth. If you have the larascopic surgery, with the itty bitty tiny cuts on your stomach, it'll hurt like hell for about a week. That is, if they cut you right in your belly button like they did me. Otherwise, probably not much pain at all. I do know one thing. I feel 110% better now that I have had it done. The puking has stopped and I cannot have another gall bladder attack now, because as the anesthesiologist said, I "donated" my gall bladder to science. It does take time to build your muscles in your stomach back, but it's not that bad, really.
Don't worry. I worried too, but afterward, I was so happy to be able to eat again and not have to lean with my back against the wall in total agony right before the inevitable brown bile purging. It had to go somewhere, I guess and it couldn't get through the ducts. It was a very simple operation, I thought, and I am a total wuss.

25. The thing that is stumping my docs is that I have little to NO symptoms of |
|
a bad gallbladder. They want to wait until I show more classic signs.
I get the occasional pain in the middle of my shoulder blades and a pain right under my sternum and thats it. Oh.. I also get very burpy/gassy.
He said until I show signs of classic symptoms to leave it in. I was fine with that until he told me what can happen after your gb is out - bile dumping, chronic shits, etc..

I still have them from time to time if I eat a very fatty type food, but the shits did go away as a rule for me about 2 months after the surgery. I'm not sure about bile dumping. What's that?

Because your gallbladder stores bile and when you get it removed the bile has no where to go so it all comes out the south end.

66. It's totally normal in people who still have their tonsils. |
|
It's bacteria that accumulates in the pockets on your tonsils. Every now and then you cough one up like a cat coughs up a hairball.
And yes, they smell disgusting.
I talked with a doctor about it and she suggested using a tongue scraper as part of my dental routine to help keep some of the bacteria from accumulating. Works like a champ and breath is fresher than I ever knew possible. Of course I've always been a tongue brusher, but had no idea the powers of the tongue scraper until the last few years.
Give it a go!
PS - Sorry for being so disgusting in this post, but it seemed to fit right in with the thread.
