Berke Breathed bringing back Opus!
Great article. Breathed is bringing back Opus. It's currently the top story over at Salon. (It's enough by itself to justify paying for my subscription.)

Here is a snip from an e-mail interview Salon did with him. It's a long article with lots of links and great commentary. I think the GOP may not like this very much.

The world went and got silly again. I left in 1995 with things properly, safely dull, and couldn't imagine why anyone would feel it necessary again to start behaving ridiculously. It would have been at least courteous of the Republicans to warn a few of us inclined to retire our ink-swords that they had King George waiting in his zoom-zoom jetsuit aching to start the Crusades again.

2. I'm ecstatic - What about Bill? Need him in 2004
Obviously, I'm a happy penguin. Think I will lie down in a nice dandelion patch (must be warm enough for one somewhere). Will Bill be back, too? And just in time.

4. No word on Bill coming back in the article.
"What about Bill?" was the first question my wife asked too.

3. WOW. Now someone needs to work on Bill Watterson, and all
will be right with the world.

5. We had a picture in our office of Garfield and Bill the Cat.

The title over the picture of Garfield simply said, "Monday morning 9:00am."

The title over the picture of Bill the very frazzled Cat (sprawled on the floor with his back propped up against the wall) was, "Friday afternoon 5:00pm."

9. And the one where the little neurotic kid had been taken hunting by dad
and the deer came up and asked him what they were doing and he says
"My Dad is hunting you."
"Whatever for?"
"I think he wants to chop off your head and hang it on the wall."
"THAT SAVAGE!"

And that other really old one when Opus is still learning to talk and he repeats things back garbled to the Krisha's "Hairy Fishnuts" and gets the guy really ticked off.

yuhhokay. Maybe ya had to be there. :-)
