Thursday morning LOST discussion (((yep, Spoilers)))
Notice that no one said what Ana-Lucia does for a living. I mean, she's pretty darn smart when it comes to things like defending herself, interogation (she built a damn hole cage and using both a gun and knife. Yet we don't know what she does for a living.

Next week we finally get both tribes merging. It looks like Sawyer & Kate are pairing up (I was hoping for a triangle with those 2 and Jack). And also there should be some heat between Ana-Lucia and Sayid. Maybe they're saving Libby for Jack. But I was getting irritated that had 2 separate groups and we weren't seeing much of the old group. It'll be nice now to have them as one big happy family!

1. I thought the same thing about Ana-Lucia
What the hell does she do for a living? And how many days did it take her to dig that pit for gosh sakes?

I am glad the passengers will met up. I'm tired of the pull between the plots.

4. Now that the tribes have merged I think that Ana will be voted out
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 09:00 AM by underpants
The orginals have the numbers, even though they lost one last week, so I think it will come down between Sayid (he's crafty) and Sawyer (street wise). Jack will be voted off soon because he is the leader. Ana Lucia, on second thought, might be kept around because no one likes her and they think they can take her to the end and win. Watch out for the recently reunited couple-there is obviously and instant alliance there- they could join up with Sun and Jin-Soo and maybe CHarlie and Claire IF Locke isn't trying to make a strategic move there. Hurley and Kate could be swing votes and could be playing possum here but Hurley is of course hurt by the fact that they all know that he is already rich. Hard to say either way it should be interesting to see who wins.

3. It's a good thing they started with the other cast otherwise..
this show would have ended real quick. Ana Lucia's character is completely unlikeable and who ever the actress is is pretty bad. I get it with the scowling okay?

The whole show was like punching the clock to get back to where we basically already knew we were. Very predicable too.

Okay can we get back to the actual story now and hope and pray that Ana Lucia is only giving a couple minutes of scowling time per show?

She was in Resident Evil and a few other movies, and all she ever does is scowl.

I hope Sayid kills her ass immediately.

5. I'm guessing she's got some kind of advanced military training.
Not only does she know how to do all of that, but she was incredibly perceptive to notice that guy came out of the forest and wasn't wet (Goodwin?) at an incredibly hectic time. Smells of CIA style training to me.

To be honest, with Sawyer hurt and possibly starting a romance with Kate, he's going to end up being less of the island asshole - they needed a new one. Ana-Lucia fits the bill perfectly

13. Well it seems Libby is the spoiled rich girl
and I'm not sure what that big black guy is with the heavy accent is. We don't know what his story or why he was on the plane either.

The other characters seem like they'll be relegated to the minor cast members that if they make an appearance they'll probably end up dying that week. Kinda like the Red Uniform Star Trekkers.

42. The black guy has to be some type of missionary or minister
Telling people he would pray for them, pulling the dead out of the water (where others might have left them to the sharks), was really freaked that he had to kill somebody, and seemed really happy to find a Bible in that storage trunk, where most people stranded on an island would probably be hoping for food, fuel, weapons, etc. (Well they did find the one pocket knife anyway)

So it seems evident that faith/religion is this guy's primary motivator.

15. Yeah
I know they had to wrap up 48 days in 61 minutes but there was not one person saying "You know maybe we should not overreact in a flippant and scowling manner" Oh yeah there was that guy from "Ed" who was doing that but they dug a 12 foot deep hole in two days and threw him in it and then he got his neck snapped by a guy 30 pounds lighter than him.

See don't mess the strong woman type who happens to like drinking WAY before lunch.

BTW- give me a recap of Invasion. Did anything actually get found out? The girl who was in the jail cell for killing her mother-where do I know that actress from?

21. I didn't recognize her from anything but she was freaky.
She also went missing in the storm and got infected (or taken over) and she is not at all the same person. She gave birth to a baby and left it. Russell found it. They examined her at the hospital and her body didn't show any evidence of ever giving birth. Tom (the sheriff) stole her medical records so there was no proof that she gave birth. They wouldn't do a DNA test since her body showed no signs of birth and there were no records. Muriel (the doctor woman) went to the pond where she had her accident and saw herself in the reflection as a rotting dead body. She's starting to realize what is going on. And her husband is not being honest about it. She told him to go look in the water himself to see. And he saw himself the same way she did. But when he went back and she asked what he saw, he lied and said nothing. He took the girl who killed her mother-in-law to jail and explained a lot to her. But he lied to Muriel about that too!

It was a good show, I wish I could give a better summary than that!

16. The only thing with last nights episode
is that since they basically fast forwarded it to get to now, we didn't see any of the drama that may have happened b/tw everybody. We had a whole season of all the drama b/tw the other group of survivors. And this just took care of it in one episode. But it will be interesting to see what happens when they all get together. And I am glad we got to see one of "the others". Now, with the guy that was killed first (Nathan???), I guess he really was on the plane! It was good but I didn't like the set up of the show. And Ana Lucia is a mean mean person. She just put herself in charge, huh? And one question, who did Eko kill in the beginning that made him quit talking?

19. He killed two of "The Others"
Interesting as someone hinted at about. We are guessing he was on the plane (probably was) but what if he killed his fellow others to keep them quiet and he is just trying to see if these strangers can get him off the island.

Who knows? I guess I will have to stay tuned.

"They weren't good enough" the list the kids "in a better place now"

My wife had the theory that the island is purgatory and so did a lot of people across the internets. This episode did nothing but feed that theory.

31. You have a point - Goodwin even said that 'Nathan was a bad person'
which is why he wasn't pulled right away.

And one thing that we've learned from all the mids is their lifestory and how they all seemed to be "bad people" in real life in someway.

Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 10:08 AM by Tyrone Slothrop
That is to say, the man of faith.

They both sat alone without talking on the beach for some time after the crash. They are both rather spiritual. And he was very excited about the bunker/hatch -- the same way Locke was.

Btw, is his actual name Eko? Or does it just sound like that? Could it be Ekcol? Or Locke backwards?

On edit: They do like using the black/white pairs on this show. The backgammon motif, the Adam and Eve stones, etc.

35. A few theories, and things I saw while surfing last night:
- It's pretty evident that the tailaways' hatch is a different station from the other castaways. The Dharma logo has an arrow rather than a swan.
- The arrow and the swan are among the different symbols of the Greek/Roman god Apollo (remember the energy bars?).
- There's talk on the TWOP forums that Mr. Eko may be a priest or minister of some sort. Lots of symbolism with his 40 days of silence, and how Ana Lucia wept on the 41st day. Just my theory, but Eko seemed very "Christlike" to me (except when he beat the two Others to death :))

39. Yeah the 40 days thing is very biblical
at least that is what it reminded me of.

I had a former neighbor who was a career student and he told me that in one religion class they studied the stories of Jesus--basically serial type tales told a long time ago (during Christ's lifetime) of how Christ would do basically magic tricks like making people fall off the roof and such. Very interesting. Apparently on pay day when Jesus got a hold of the Dickel.....well lets just say it got ugly come about midnight so the beating people to death with a stone is not that much of a stretch.

Oh

She knows a lot about U.S. Army knives, anyway.

I guess I'm the only one who finds her character interesting -- not likable, but interesting. (Maybe because I've known some "tough gals" -- it's usually a facade.) Notice how she paused a long time before answering when she was asked if she had children. Hmm.
