Poll question: What is your favorite OTC painkiller?
Okay, I'm strange. I hate the taste, but BC powders really work for me - 650 mg aspirin, 33 mg caffeine, 195 mg of saliclamide. Orudis is on my A list too.

The problem is Advil and Tylenol don't do anything for me and Aleve gives me stomach cramps. Am I the only one?

2. Excedrin
You got the acetemenaphine (sp?) and the aspirin in the same pill. And then they throw a little caffiene in there, too, just so it makes it through your system faster.

Normally I just work through pain, I'm not found of drugging up everytime I get a little throbbing. But sometimes you get those headaches, or backaches for that matter, where you rather die than live through the pain, and then I hit it up on the med side.

3. Well, Alieve isn't OTC in Canada, but...
Naprosyn sodium is the only thing I've met so far other than Percocet that KOs my menstrual cramps! (I only found out about that by accident when I was taking Percocet post-laproscopic cholecystectomy, and *no cramps*!) Unfortunately, I have to take 2 or 3 of them at a time, since the prescription ones I used to be on (trade name Anaprox) were 800 mgs, and the Alieves are only 220s. Since that's about a total of 12 per month, I'm not too worried, though. :)

8. Can't take aspirin or ibuprofen
If I do, my stomach will open up like a piñata at a baseball player's birthday party. I have to take acetaminophen; I have no choice in the matter.

Luckily, I'm right across the border from Windsor, and can go buy Tylenol with coedine over there.

9. Depends. Excedrin for headache, Advil for muscle aches.
...and Midol for hangovers (at college more guys has Midol in their rooms than girls...it works great for hangovers).

Usually for sore lower back and menstral cramps around my period. I only have to take it for about 3 days though.

13. I was torn
For muscle pain, toothaches, hangovers, nerve pain, I of course use the appropriate homeopathic remedy. For ordinary headache pain, Advil. But I had to vote in the mishmash "herbal/homeopathic/naturapathic" category. Homeopathy is as distinct from herbal medicine as it is from all the other categories.
Funny thing about aspirin: it gives me tinnitus. This since I took too much years ago for an abscessed tooth.

14. As far as Aleve is concerned....
it has to be taken with food or it will cramp your stomach. It is a very good anti-imflammatory and very effective for people with arthritis.

15. "Narcotics" are not "OTC", by definition
Maybe it wasn't necessary to point that out, but of course OTC stands for "over the counter". Anything you get by prescription, and definitely anything that qualifies as a narcotic, is not available "OTC".
