I googled my little brother (age 14)
I live a long distance away from him and don't even talk to him that frequently. The first thing that came up was some girls Xanga sight. There she proclaims her love for my little brother. She writes things about a number of people who she knows. To one of the other girls, she says something to the effect that if she tried to interfere with their relationship that she'll kick the other girl's ass.
I know that my little brother is growing up, but this all seems sort of funny and weird. When I left home, he was 5 years old and in kindergarten.

1. ooh, the temptation.....
Like telling the lovey girl that she had better treat him right or a full grown woman who loves him even more will come kick HER ass.:+

4. That would be especially funny
He'd be mortified though.
When he was little though and playing in the neighborhood, I overheard him tell an older bully who approached him and his friends that he better not mess with them or his sister was going to beat him up. I happened to be walking by and the bully, who was probably 10, took off running.
It would be fitting.

2. I know how that is
My son lives with his dad and has since he was 11. I've written to him a lot over the years but his dad has been a dick about letting me see him and I've seen him once in almost 7 years. :( He recently got a cell phone and called out of the blue to give me the number so now I talk to him more often. But it's strange - when he went to live with his dad, he was a skinny little boy with a high pitched voice - now he's almost 18 years old, has a southern accent (they moved to Virginia from Vermont) and a deep voice. It's odd.

What's good though is that we have a good relationship - he always tells me he loves me and that sort of thing so it's cool. It's just wierd.

It's hard to keep in touch but try to, even if it's not that often. Family is important.

3. Were you tempted to register, and jump in?
Something like "you hurt my brother and I'll hunt you down"?

6. 5 or 14, he will probably love you having his back.
I've raised 2 kids. My daughter always seemed to be one step ahead of me in her social life. My son needed me and his sister(mostly his sister and I still don't know the half of it) watching his back. Young boys can be such dufuses.

7. You made me curious to Google my 18-year-old daughter.
The first three hits were for three DIFFERENT people with her name.

8. Luckily, he has a rarer name
I know that it is him for sure because of the age and location.

9. Speaking as a mother...
I'm rather glad my daughter's name isn't unique. ;)
